From soccernet:

Fernando Torres has revealed he is eager to see Arsenal take the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool had been expected to be among the challengers this year but, following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham, they now look likely to miss out on a place in the top four.

There is also the threat that Manchester United could clinch a record 19th league title this season - moving clear of Liverpool's 18 - but Torres feels Arsene Wenger can end his five-year wait for silverware this season.

"I want Arsenal to be the champions," he told Canal+. "They have the best fixtures of the three. Wenger deserves to win the title and to be imitated for his work he has done in his time there."

Chelsea are currently a point clear and face games against top-half opposition in the shape of Tottenham, Stoke and Liverpool while United have to take on Manchester City, Tottenham and Stoke.

Arsenal's only remaining games against top-half sides come against Tottenham and City, but Chelsea have three home games remaining while United and Arsenal have just two.

Am I reading too much into this or is Torres' praise of Wenger a veiled dig at Rafa, especially the "deserves to be imitated" comment?

I just can't imagine Torres using words like ''imitated".

Why not?

He'd be more than welcome to come and help us out!
Can you just imagine Torres in a good team? Scary.

Oh yes. Spain are awesome, I forgot that.

in regards to torres being in an amazing team we can be an amazing team when the manager lets the team play with freedom as you've seen in the past.

Good. I'm just ready to jump on the paranoia bandwagon. Seems like everyone else is having fun with it.
Me too.. he hates the scum and chavs so he'll want fabregas to get a league medal.ie the spanish connection, they stick together.

I agree with Fernando - of the three title contenders, Arsenal is the club I dislike the least, in fact I positively like the club. Wenger can be an irritating sod but he has achieved a lot at The Emirates.

Arsenal are a funny one. I'd take them over Chelsea on the basis they're a proper club and will have built up to it with far less resources, but don't know if I could stand them going on for about half a century about how they "won the league with youngsters, half their team injured and a net spend of -£ 8847374334344883."

Also, with their new stadium etc, they're going to be up there for a while to come. Or maybe its because I know too many Gooners. See just typing this has made me back Chelsea again.

Oh well.

It will be weird if Arsenal win it as never will I have seen the league winners look so poor against their closet rival.

Chelsea and Utd spanked Arsenal this year.

In general I like the Gooners. I think they are more fair-minded than most football fans. When little Michael stole the FA Cup from under their noses in Cardiff, they took it very philosophically. The Gooners I spoke to in the pubs after the match all said that we had taken our chances and they hadn't.

I live in London, and they were far from gracious mate. Again, football fans are all alike at the end of the day, I know some who still moan about the Henchoz handball that day and about how lucky we were (which they subsequently go silent about when I remind them of the penno shootout victory they had over United in the final where they themselves got abso battered).

Arsenal at this day an age is head and shoulders above the Chavs and United when it comes to not beeing incredibly cuntish.

They even play better football albeit often headless which has been heavily exposed by the Chavs and United this Season.

I'm not writing them off just yet with regards to tonights Champions League game either but it would probably help their title-challenge if they were knocked out.

But you'll just never know and that Bendtner-lad is burning hot isn't he?

Cue: THE PIE THREAD

Indeed... Most Arsenal fans I know are the most rose-tinted fans I know.

Yep, Torres would suit Arsenal down to the ground and Arsenal would suit Torres down to the ground.

It's a match made in heaven, thankfully the Spaniard wouldn't fuck us over by joining another English Club
(so he says anyway but i believe him 🙂 )

United took 7 points out of 18 against the Top 4 last season, and won the league.
