It's basically a blue shirt. Loads of people abroad buy shirts just because they like the colour. Plainish red, plainish blue - they probably don't even know what the writing/badge on it means. Probably Californian bimbi think it means the posh shopping area of London.

Chelsea and Utd are very popular in Asia arent they?
Utd sell as many Kagawa kits as they do Rooney apparantly.

When I was in Cape Town in 2000 you couldn't buy a Liverpool shirt anywhere, but Leeds shirts were fucking everywhere. Means fuck all except people buy whatever they deem fashionable because they have no real affinity with a club or knowledge of football.

Chelsea have had a decade of success now. They have fans all over the world and in some places like Ghana they're the #1 English club.

Pity for Chelsea then that the average Ghanaian would have to work for about 400 years to save up for a football shirt.

Just shows you how incredible a worldwide brand Liverpool is.
This is a club that's not even been in the top 4 for 5 seasons or so, and yet we're still in the top 6.

That's what whatshisface from the Pl said when clarifying his Utd comments the other day.

Said that our support worldwide is immense despite not having ever win the Premiership & us winning it would make that 'explode'

Something else to note;

Manchester United have been named the most influential football club brand in the world, ahead of their arch rivals Liverpool.

United were praised for their huge commercial presence and for being the best at maximising retail partnerships.
Judges casting their eye over sports brands for the website licensing.biz said United's impact continued regardless of their success on the football field.
One judge said the club, who are currently fifth in the Premier League following victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford yesterday, was “the only truly global British football brand.” Another added: “You can't argue with that success and it is genuinely international.”
United, who have a successful London office dealing with commercial operations, have struck sponsorship deals with numerous companies over the past year. Companies such as Bwin, Toshiba Medical Systems, Santander, MBNA and Fuji TV have been keen to be associated with the Old Trafford giants.
A world record deal with General Motors for Chevrolet to be their shirt sponsors from the 2014/15 season is worth £357m – a 120% increase over their existing shirt sponsor Aon. Aon signed a £180m deal for naming rights to United's training ground and to have its logo plastered across the club's training kit.
The next best placed club, Liverpool, were said to have a long way to go to catch up. Owned by the Fenway Sports Group, the five-times European Cup winners continue to fascinate fans around the globe and the judges said they were starting to make an impact.
Spanish champions FC Barcelona, the second richest club in the world in terms of revenue with an annual turnover of $613m, was the third best placed football club brand ahead of Premier League leaders Arsenal and 2012 Champions League holders Chelsea who were the fourth and fifth respectively.
Tottenham Hotspur were sixth and Manchester City seventh. Surprisingly, Real Madrid did not rank although that may be because the clubs were included in a category called Sports which actually was topped by the London 2012 Olympic Games. Its vast potential for licensing and merchandising was capitalised on, the judges felt.
The Licensing.biz Power List was voted for by a panel of independent judges. Website editor Samantha Loveday said: “It is a reflection of the properties which the industry itself believes have made the most impact over the past 12 months.”

For the second year in running, the Merseyside outfit has topped the charts...
Liverpool FC have been adjudged as the 'most trusted football brand in India' for the second successive year following a comprehensive study, the club's official website reported.

The club finished third in the sports catergory, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) winning the first two places.

The survey conducted by the Trust Research Advisory has been reported the biggest study on Brand Trust.

"The Brand Trust Report India Study 2014 is the result of research conducted amongst 2,500 consumer-influencers across 16 cities - a project that generated nearly five million data points and studied over 20,000 brands, making it the most intensive study on Brand Trust anywhere in the world," it reported.

"Liverpool Football Club has been the Most Trusted Football Team in the Brand Trust Report for two years in a row and it speaks volumes about the brand. We congratulate Liverpool FC on achieving this prestigious recognition," N. Chandramouli, CEO, Trust Research Advisory, was quoted as saying.

As a matter of fact, Liverpool FC is the only English club to have dedicated twitter and facebook profiles for its Indian fans.

I imagine Roman having a big soviet submarine dock or bomber hangar somewhere piled high with Chelsea shirts he's bought to fudge the figures.

It's amazing how many people declared themselves as Chelsea fans and 'always liked them' after they started doing well, hopefully the opposite is true if United fall away.

When Liverpool, utd, arsenal and chelsea are all 'bigger brands' than the premier league, you would imagine the league will have an uphill task in keeping control of tele rights and revenue etc

We have fallen well down the pecking order from a few years ago:

Arbeloa said: "In the last few years the Premier League has been much better than the Spanish league, but now that may even out thanks to factors that could give the Premier League more problems than in previous years, like the fall of the pound and the raise in taxes. They will make a lot of players move to Spain. Mind you, Adidas told me that the Liverpool shirt is their best seller, more so even than Madrid, so that shows that the Premier League has reached every corner of the world."

Does the shirt manufacturer have a bearing on the shirt sales I wonder.
The likes of Adidas and Nike are worldwide brands while Warrior isn't I think.
Not that I really give a fuck as long as the most important figure, what we are paid by our shirt manufacturer, is significant

But Leeds was down to Radebe. I know @Hansern to there first...

Doesn't it fuck you any of you off when football or our club keeps being mentioned as a brand? We are a club not a fucking business!

Unfair with the Chelsea figure because each of their fans has one for each day of the week, the shiniest one for Sundays. So that is about 28 jerseys per family.

Liverpool, United, Real & Barca are the most popular European teams in Asia. Chelsea, City and Arsenal .. not so much.

Not a problem .. they can all be knocked off with equal enthusiasm and realism.
