Too one-paced

Watching the Scum and Neville has re-iterated a few times in this game that you can't be too one-paced in modern day football and be successful.

And that's exactly what we demonstrated yesterday. An attacking midfield of Lallana, Coutinho and Markovic was just too pedestrian. Plus Balotelli is no Sturridge.

Whilst Lallana and Markovic are good players, we should only have signed 1 of them as they're too similar to Coutinho. However, we have no replacement for Sterling.

Sterling has to play every Premier League game until we have someone who can replace him.

I said all through the Summer, Ibe would have been a handy player to have around to give Sterling a breather, he's the ideal replacement, even if he is still learning.

@Rafiagra There's actually plenty of pace in yesterday's team (Markovic is damn fast, Lallana & Balotelli too) however the problem aaas there was no space behind to use it.

He didn't show it. Plus i don't see him having the same kind of pace that Sterling shows.

I agree that Ibe would have been handy although it's prob best for his long term development to go on loan.

I've already said in the post above why he didn't show it ! And Sterling isn't just one of the fastest in our team he's one of the fastest in the league ... though I agree on Ibe, who's faster still.

Of course, you know how I hate to seem pedantic, but if a team is one-paced, it's one-paced. You can't be too one-paced.

This. Hague and I have been saying this all summer. Gutted he's out on loan

I'd limit him to some cameo roles at the moment. Allow him to run at tired defenders for and few games. He seemed content to move the ball as quickly as he got it. Sterling stated in a interview recently that he also had a habit of doing this.

Agree on Ibe .. pity we don't have him in reserve though naturally we didn't foresee so many injuries so early on.
