Is he any good, what do you think

He has looked decent when I have seen him, nice passing and control but his finishing is certainly not going to worry Scholes yet, he should have had a hatrick last night.

Is this boy going to be UTDs top central man for a long time and maybe Englands.

I assume he is miles better than hendo 😱

He's not quick, to put it politely. Good passer. I can't say I've been excited watching him, but I haven't watched him very often.

I'm not a fan, a United guy I know at work is constantly annoyed that he keeps getting selected for them.

He is almost 23 And barely played for scum.

At same age Fabregas has won the euros and world cup and played in 260 games for the arse.

Hoping he isn't the answer to England's woe's

The comparison with Henderson is a good one. I've watched both of them at various times and thought to myself that there's potential there, but neither seems to me to have kicked on from a couple of years ago. If Cleverley's the answer I'd hate to think what the question was.

Cleverley squandered a few good chances for England against Ukraine last night. On the night he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

He is nowhere near as good as the hype around him suggests, if he was he could have walked into that midfield years ago, he keeps it tidy and hes a decent passer but the Fabregas comparisons are hilarious. Fabregas was a better player at 17 then Cleverly is now, Henderson is a fairly decent comparison, young English uninspiring and totally over rated

he's good enough that he'll probably be relied upon in the centre for united but not good enough to solve any of their midfield problems, which is nice

Jonjo wil be better in a couple of years

Id be inclined to say he already is, if Cleverly played for Wigan nobody would give him a second look, sure he plays for Utd but hes 23 and he still isnt a starter in a pretty weak midfield, they begged Scholes to come out of retirement at 37 because they have so much faith in him

Wasn't Cleverly injured last season?

There are a lot more examples of people who didnt achieve what Fabregas achieved at his age to compare. By picking him your picking the creme della crem and even at that Fabregas was a bit part player in that first euro and world cup team, he hardly made them tick. Roy Keane would never have had a chance of winning a euro or world cup medal yet he came into the united team at 22/23 from Forest, much like Cleverly has learned his trade at Watford and Wigan before being injured last year in his first run in the scum team.

And before someone goes off on one I'm not saying he'll be the player Keane was, Im just picking a comparison that I think might suit better given their ages, club involved and level of football they have come from!

Cleverley's a good player. It's sometimes difficult to judge the real standard of United players because they're formed from an early age to fulfill a role in a good footballing side with the blueprint (urgh) that goes with it. He looks a good player though, he's intelligent and not dissimilar to Fletcher. Perhaps not top drawer and time will tell if he's international class but I've been impressed so far.

He is playing the number ten for England, of course he should be compared to the other players of similar age.

Don't see Clevely kicking on, he isnt even half the player Lampard was at the same age.

Lampard started getting games alot earlier though, Cleverley has had the same number of seasons so far (4) of playing as Lampard had when he had his first full 'good' season for the Hammers, except Lampard was two or three years younger. I agree he might not be of that standard, but the age thing is neither here nor there, Lampard had a footballing family around him that helped promote his progress early.

Yeah, was out for months due to ankle injury. Haven't seen enough to comment but he's one player who has worked his way up to where he is today. Its easier to forget he'd been gaining experience in League 1, Championship and Premier League over the past 3 seasons with Leicester City, Watford and Wigan respectively. This season and next should be pivotal for him.
