How on earth do you not win a game with those stats?!?
They pretty much did us with 3 breakaways.
Surely, surely, with a couple of decent forwards (people who can score) in January we'll be battering people left right and centre?
From a playing point of view, I'm not sure what more you can ask for. We've got players off form, quite a few, and we're making cockups at the back, but it's not like we're not creating chances, we had TWENTY NINE shots. And that's with our creative players playing pretty much shit.
If we had a few more decent players, I don't see how we'd not be top of the league based on these numbers each week. I wonder what scoreline city or the scum would come up with on the back of those numbers, with better players.

I no longer care about what we'd be doing in x amount of games. I care what we do against Fulham. I'm desperate for a 1-0 win.

Maybe our defenders are really not that good - it might explain why we constantly get caught out on quick breakaways.

Playing effectively without a left back is an issue - and as much as I like Agger, he gets caught out all over the pitch.

You get defenders that take pride in snuffing out the opposition, but Agger seems to take more pride in his forward forays. There's just something not right about him and Skrtel as a pairing - although getting constantly exposed by the FB's doesn't help.

12+8+10 = 29

Goal 1 and 3 came from losing the ball stupidly in midfield.
First was Suarez with a dribble on the halfway line, the other was Cole not being able to control a pass.

We have to be smarter in certain situations and learn from them.

I am sick of excuses. Hiding behind stats showing we were the better team. The best team lost etc. Same shit as against Swansea. It is shocking that when we need to step up our game to get back into it we look even poorer.... There is no change of pace or change of style. We just get poorer.

The Sky stats were 25 shots (16 on target) vs 9 (6 on target). 62% vs 38% possession (72% is almost impossible in an EPL match and we certainly didn't have 72% yesterday). Not that it matters an iota.

I used to feel that the issues were up front but now I feel it's all over the pitch :

GK - Pepe is not the keeper he was.
Central Defence - I don't think they have adapted to whatever it is BR wants them to do. There is a calamity waiting in every match and Skrtel & Agger look out of sorts (Skrtel particularly yesterday).
Midfield - Midfielders are not tracking back - this seems to be a recurring theme and our attacks lack incision and clarity. Confusion and indecision reigns.
Attack - terrible decision making, shooting, crossing (get your head up - why on earth would you cross to 1 man isolated against 7 defenders ?), control (all were guilty but Sterling was the worst - 25% of passes seem to bounce off him and he lost it a number of times by over-hitting it ahead of himself) and the whole creative process.

We seem to be superb in the centre 50% of the pitch but in the 25% at either end we are really struggling to look anything like coherent.

Really? I think we are shit in the 50% centre of the pitch. No plan, no drive and no energy. Just rolling the ball around and hoping someone else will do something.

Had my numbers off the opta app, I'll apologise on behalf of opta if they're out. I think it makes the point though, we're all over pretty much every team we play, but keep getting Knobbled by our own poor finishing, and their breakaways.

A team going two nil up away, is not interested in possesion. They are interested in protecting their lead. Something Villa did excellent. So the stats really just tell us that they were not interested in putting more pressure on us and we were not capable on putting any pressure on them.

Goals are important, and a team that scores two to three comfortably away will not chase the game. So using stats to show we were the better team is a waste. We were the poorest and weakest team again. Of course we are in transition, and we dont have the money or players that Manchester teams have (the usual excuse whenever we are beaten by some random team), which is supposed to make it perfect acceptable to not perform at all. Never mind that we have a first XI and a bench filled with internationals.... We are excused time and time again for not performing due to this transition phase we are supposed to be in.
