He's a legend and we cant afford him.
My opinion on Ibra has been up and down. Loved him at the beginning, meh about him during the Inter and Barca days and loved him the past 2 years.
He's been absolutely brilliant for us. It's a bit like Suarez and LFC at the moment. He's currently carrying the national team.

What a goal, one of the best ever and I don't think that's an exaggeration. What a performance.

I didnt see it at the time and ive just got round to watching it having read journo after journo creaming themselves over it..... Having watched it i came on here to see if there's anyone else thought it was over-rated and sure enough there you are Mark.

"one of the best ever".....nah... acrobatic poach.... yeah....

A very nice goal but certainly far too much fuss about it.

Yea, I was wondering if it is just a British media thing?
Is he more well thought of on the continent I wonder?

I think i read the other day that he'd only scored 3 or 4 goals in 20 apperances against English teams and England . So i'd say alot of people have only really seen him in those games (lots would have been big champs leagues games i suspect) where he's not been that impressive .

Also he's got a bit of the berbatov about him , people will always have doubts over his supposed laziness but fuck he scores , 56 goals in 85 games for milan and he wasn't even that bad at barca getting 21 in 45 .

4 goals 2 great one's 1 decent 1 and 1 whichi s up there with the best the world has ever seen.

Truly outstanding. It was like watching 2 of your mates play pro ev and 1 of them just kept passing the ball to Ibra hoping he's do something.

It's like that episode of Friends where Chandler isn't allowed to make jokes, and just sat there furious at what was unfolding around him. .

Behave.

He's just scored an overhead kick from 40 yards with a ball 6 feet in the air and travelling at zero pace.

Did he not perform a rendition of killing me softly in midair or something? what more do you fucking want?

fuck "killing me sofly " , i wanted the full "dueling banjos" before he hit the ground . In fairness though Rooney wasn't there to play the inbred kid banjo role .

I know he's a lazy fecker and all that, but he's an absolute monster. Wins the league wherever he goes, and shits goals. If you ever want a forward to nothing but score goals, not help the team, just bang in any half chance - he's the man. I'd kill to have him upfront for us, with Suarez playing-off/creating for him. He'd get 100 goals a season.

Winning the league, or scoring 25-30 goals, is by definition 'helping the team'!

Maybe i was being a little bit of a cunt, apologies to Mark, but at the same time, he didnt beat anyone, didnt create he just reacted.... a wicked poach but nothing more than that... its a matter of taste i spose... very good goal... nowhere near one of the best ever IMHO

You need better taste.

I get what he means, I always prefer a team goal like Brazil in 1970, but this is certainly one of the best finishes that I've ever seen.

In fairness, he has a record of disappearing in big games, though he seems to be putting that behind him now, relatively late on in his career. History will judge him as someone who didn't quite make the most of his considerable talent at the very highest level and, IMHO, rightly so.
just because someone else repeats an incorrect point all the time doesn't make it right. the guy is phenomenal - no striker in the world has his record.

4 goals in 20 appearances versus English opposition is club colours

The man's a mystery

Fwiw I think he's top 3 strikers in the world, and has been for nearly a decade

While respecting the view of many in here I've never been particularly impressed by him; a flat track bully has always been the description that comes to mind when I hear his name.

Got tremendous talent, great skill and that goal was amazing but he's had the opportunity to demonstrate it on the biggest stages many times and, prior to the Euro's last year, IMO he's never really done it.

Compare him to Gerrard in terms of big match performance; he's delivered so many times in the biggest of matches and that's why (regardless of Roy Keane's thinking) he will be remembered as one of the greats. Ibra, IMO, won't be. Compare him to Ronaldo - the real one or the European version; probably just as much talent but hasn't performed on the biggest stages as they have - particularly the Brazilian version.

Impressive goal, but I've never quite gotten the whole love-in with overhead kicks and the like. They do demonstrate good technique and athleticism, but can't help but feel there is a big dollop of luck thrown in as well.

I much prefer to see genuine skill on show - give me Messi beating three players and then dinking it over the keeper any day.

I agree

Yeah it's not the greatest goal ever. But it's definitely going to be remembered years from now because of how difficult it is to believe he just did that. A bit like the Roberto Carlos free kick or Van Basten's volley.

He didn't even beat the keeper ...

Egggzakkly....

He leapt all skewiff and swung a foot hitting towards an open goal, you are right Hyena, even if sarcastic, he really DIDN'T beat the keeper....he didnt beat anyone in fact.... it was an athletic reaction and strike .... big fucking deal....Messi scores better goals before breakfast ....

Good goal...yeah very......Best goal ever???? not in a month of Sundays

I wasn't being sarcastic.
I'm getting a lot of shit from my friends for this opinion, though!

I scored with a header from 40 yards for Dromin Utd in a cup match against local rivals Ardee Hibernians in 1980. Without a shadow of doubt it is the best goal ever scored.

Unfortunately it wasnt captured on camera.
