I say tin pot.. but tbh we should try to win this, given its been 4 years since we last won a trophy.

Good draw too.. we should be able to field the kids for this one.

Tie of the round..

Tottenham vs Arsenal

Should be interesting to see how Tottenham approach the carling cup this season, given they are now in the Champions League.

And for once we're at home. Nice.

Definitely would like to see one or two of the youngsters get a go for this. Pacheco, Kelly, Shelvey and maybe Wilson all to start.

When Rafa put out a completely changed team full of the younger lads, it was always a shit game and these lads played as if they'd only just met.

I'd play the planned changed team in a couple of short practice matches in training so that they can develop some understanding.

I'm going to try, and I'm actually gutted for once that we're not playing away.

Northampton is 116 miles from NOrwich.

It's not available on LFC TV yet though (yeah I know, but thought it wouldnt hurt to check) 8)

If you fail to get tickets then you won't have tried very hard. I'll wager they will have pay on the gate for that one unless they drop the prices to a tenner a go.

This is the one cup we should be breaking our arse to win this season. Break our trophy drought having played only 5 games to do so.

I'd love us to win this (and of course the FA Cup).

Will definitely try for this, especially if the prices are lower.

Feel like going again, J? 8)

Will keep an eye out 🙂
[/quote]

Possibly. I've got to keep an eye on my mileage until November or I'll get stung when I give the car back.

Haha, I remember..

No worries,J 8)

Will have done 4,500 miles after this trip and I'm not even 2 months in! But I should be able to squeeze two more trips to Liverpool before mid November.

Jaysus, that's a lot of miles ;D

No worries, J...I'm just looking for any excuse for a drinkies since i'm not making The Big Drinkies tonight 🙁

The game will be on the week commencing September 20, so that's a bit too close unfortunately.

I know that a lot of lads on here look at these trophies with some disdain, but IMHO we really shouldn't.

I want to see Gerrard loft trophies, any trophies..We exist to win things, and that's all there is to it..We keep talking about how off-the-pitch BS has made our club suffer, and it has...but come on, we have another chance to win something this season..and after 4 barren years, we desperately need a lift.

Yes, we may chafe at the thought of shit games against shit clubs..and it hurts to see our rivals at the big stages, but getting back up there will take time, so at least let's enjoy the ride..There is a great deal of frustration with the UEFA Cup, but we have a lot of fantastic memories in winning that as well..And for those of us who feel blah about the League Cup, who didn't enjoy beating the Scum to win it a few years ago?

On a personal note, I LOVE the fact that these games are cheaper and I'm more likely to be able to afford to go to some of them.

So yeah, it may bug me a little to see us play Robotics instead of Barca..but it also means I actually get to SEE a match.

I'm not going to shout any less loudly if we're playing at Grimsby instead of Bayern.

And IMVHO I do think that's what it's all about.

(Though I hope we don't get Grimsby)

PS : I'm actually really gutted that it's a home game, coz Northampton are just 116 miles from me..BUT it might mean another cheaper home game, and that will do me.

Wish the game weren't so soon tho.
