This has to be the most boring transfer window ever...and I guess I hope it will remain boring. It wouldn´t be good if we lost Alonso and/or Mascherano this close to the season. Could we find proper replacement and will we have the time to get the team ready? I guess we have had this topic a couple of times already but anyway....

Us - 1 Transfer of note
Arse - 1
Chelski - 1
Spurs - 0
Villa - 1
Everton - 0
Barca - 0

Very weird

There's an odd combination of events which has fucked this window every club lacking a Sugardaddy

The first being the credit-crunch and the general realisation that clubs can't continue to operate with such high debt levels. And the second being the over-inflation of market prices caused by Madrid and City's lavish spending.

I don't think there's enough time for us to secure the targets we need but I expect too much. I'd like to see a back-up striker, new superstar, goal scoring left-winger, a cheap experienced defender who can cover both fullback positions, and a Xabi replacement if this transfer goes through.

In all likelihood I think we'll end up with 2 more signings, but I couldn't say which ones we'll cover.

Back-up striker looks off the cards.

Liking the optimism, i think its looking pretty damn clear that without selling we will not be buying anything of note. Johnson plus loan repayments was it. I hope we can sign in a useful cheaper player for an attacking position as so far i havent seen enough out of Pacheco Nemeth Ngog babel or Voronin to think that they will provide us with much in the way of useful substitutes/replacement in case of injury.

You've got a 100 page Alonso thread to read Userred1...

Have fun with that.

Yes - its so so bloody boring this transfer period. I have this horrible feeling that all the big boys are actually staying away to Real Madrid and Barca take their pick and appear to be satisfied, otherwise they will get involved and up the price. I think thats the main problem and its possible quite a few clubs where there maybe players we are interested in - would use the tactic 'oh year our carlos is wanted by Real and they have offerred 32 trillion - can you match that bid ?" - you know what I mean don't you.

Personally - I think the recession has had an afect on the owners of these clubs, who maybe taking in the profits this time round rather putting it fully back into the club. I think we can understand this if thats the case - they are probably using the club money to fill in the gaps of other business ventures they have.
