We are all worrying like mad about the new season and our lack of killer signings - and look how that worked out. The manager and the system may be the star of the show, not Suarez or whomever replaces.

We were all frustrated by the lack of signings

One guy said
"Yep. I think people need to get real about our chances of the top 4. The only way I could've seen it happening was if we'd sold all the players we'd wanted to and spent every penny really well, but even then it was unlikely because of such a big change to the squad. As it is, with Suarez we can put out a strong XI (but so can all the top 5 teams), but our squad is really really weak in comparison, and even then we'd be reliant on Gerrard being as good yet again, at 33, and Coutinho stepping up still further, Sturridge staying fit, Lucas being decent again, Suarez saying out of trouble..."

People didn't like how we were spending

But One guy said
Yes im confident.
Happy with the manority of our business under Mr Rodgers so far.
He signed a lot of players for the future and then when he realised we needed more for the 'now' he brought in Sturridge and Coutinho for just 20m
This summer he has bought a good keeper and two young Spaniards (one of whom has scored 2 goals in preseason).
Hope he keeps it up with thw Suarez money.

There was the usual DA stuff which few really believed
http://sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/dumbledores-army-2013-14.35226/

But one posted said somewhat prophetically
"Gayest shit ever, but I actually think we can win it for the first time 5 years. So I guess I'm in?"

There was this
http://sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/liverpool-arsenal-spurs-the-squads.35426/
One fella said
"The squad that we have is good enough for a top 4 fight. What we have to mostly improve is our self belief, mentality and consistency. We need the players to show up, show some bottle and fight for that Liverbird."

And the most relevant of all called

"Who the f are are we going to sign"
http://sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/who-the-fuck-are-we-going-to-sign.35517/

"We've missed out Mkhitaryan, Soldado, and now it's looking like Diego Costa will snub us too. We badly need another goal scoring attacker to have any serious top 4 challenge, but it looks like we're really beginning to feel the pinch of being outside the champions league for so long, no world class talents want to come here. So who the hell do we sign? There must be someone out their who's fucking ace, and would join a club outside the champions league, or are we just fucked?"

Why the same doom and gloom. And this year we are in the CL, flush with cash, and rally on the up! Some great reading and perspective in there.

Wow! What a great post that is.
I'm always negative. Even in the early 80s I believed the second place team could catch us. I doubt we will seriously challenge this year, but who knows?

We need to buy a striker, just to go someway to addressing the shortfall of losing Suarez, but we're clearly trying to. I don't have a problem with concerns, it's the hyperbole we have to put up with from, clearly reading those threads, the same posters.

Like one guy said yesterday thay we've "failed" and there can be no excuses. No excuses for what? A wife who wanted to live in London and a failed medical?
