This season

Criticising Rodgers is ridiculous. From the owners down to the players, I wouldn't be sweating over retaining that many of them but he'd certainly be one.

Why though larry , what has he done so far here or in his past to convince he's the man to take us out of this shite hole ? I'm not saying he can't do it but like i said earlier, he shouldn't be excused from criticism solely because of the shite that went before him or because people want to blame the owners for all our woes .

This season was going to happen. You can't manage, perform, operate, buy and sell like we have for the last 3 or 4 years and not expect it all to come to and bite you on the hole at some stage. Well, here it is.

We've been doing this for much longer than 3-4 years it seems ...

We've been mismanaged for a long time, but the sort of really concerted effort at destroying this club on every level, rather than just through negligence is only the last 3-4.

We had a very very good team just a few years ago, the best team we've had in my entire adult life. We are miles and miles away from that now, and while I'm happy to see so many with some reason to be bullish about our academy, I don't see the sort of explosive talent we'd need in the players we've got coming up to offset all the ruination. It's just a decent base to build from.

This season would be a lot better if we hadn't completely fucked up the end of the transfer season. It's mind boggling that we saw what we saw last year and the year before, a team screaming out for goals, and did what we did.

BR got rid of Kenny's signings and its not getting better, blaming the King is a bit too easy...His handling of the Carroll situation was a disaster since day one whether he was promised a replacement or not.
we finished 8th last season and he got that same team at his disposal when he took the job + he signed a couple of players he wanted.

I dont think BR is better(or worse) than the previous manager but finishing below 8th would be a failure...cant be arsed to be honest

So it seems my expectations have been managed well by them?

.

It started in Rafa's last two years ... Carried on with Roy ... Sadly continued with Kenny ... So I guess that's 4 ...

Oh well, let's hope we can get a striker in Jan as that will alleviate some of these problems. Huntelaar would be fantastic - he's played with Luis, scores in every league and we could actually have someone in the box when crosses come in.

Ryan is spot on.
People forget how incredibly shite we've been for the last 3 years, with spells inbetween of good football.
Its not fixed in 4 months. Rodgers was very frustrated yesterday and I can understand that. It might take 2 more windows to get the team were he wants it to be.
In 2012 we've been in relegation form. 2 home wins -2- before the Reading victory.

Our squad is paper thin and we can only thank some youngsters for stepping up for us to have any sort of "squad" until january.

In 2010/11 we signed 3 good players from the 12 we purchased.
In 2011/12 we signed 4 good players from the 12 we purchased.

Our horrendous transfer policy has us sitting in 11th with a massive makeover to be done and its just started.
Patience is required.

Your loyalty is missplaced - that team of ours is not good enough to be an attack minded team, Rafa could probably get better results out of it, and I think we adopted a more cautious approach to our play. Clearly attacking and scoring goals is not something we are good at. Of course the players will love all this shit because its another excuse for them not be disciplined in thier defensive duties. Too many times now - using Rodgers methods, we have been found wanting as soon as we lose the ball, they all look like a man who has had his trowsers pulled down each time it happens.
My loyalty isn't misplaced at all. You think I don't realise all that? But the one thing that baffles me, is that in one sentence you're saying we play a more cautious approach, and then you go on to say how we're so careless at the back.

Yes we're careless at the back, as most of the goals we've conceded this season have proved. But more cautious? I don't think so. I think we're attacking as much as we did under KD. But we're just not applying the correct finishing touches to grind out the results.

I'd love to see the owners treat the January window like its the summer to give new signing(s) time to adapt into the squad.

I fully back Rodgers, I think he will do great things for us but it is one of those situations where things get worse before getting better. I went into this season just thinking that I want it to be used as a period of Rodgers bedding in his team, his new training methods, principles etc ready to have a solid base of players for the start of next season who can be supplemented by one or two top notch signings.

The willingness to play youth fills me with confidence too - if someone is good enough, they're old enough.

It sucks to say it but if there isn't much money to spend (again) next summer, we'd probably be better off selling Suarez if we can get a premium and reinvesting it in a couple other players Porto style.

I would not go down that route now. If we balls up the replacement signings after selling Suarez, I believe we will get relegated.

What is his stats now for the season 9 goals and 5 assists.

FSG "Who's this Cole guy? He's on 100,000 grand a week. He plays in the offense doesn't he? Stop going on about needing more dollars for a goal-striker. Play him.
BR "O.K. he seems to be fit now, by his own very low standards O.K. so I'll play him. O.K.
{Plays Cole}
FSG "Jiminy crickets! He's freakin' woeful!"
BR "Can I have some money for January please?"

Nealmc - one of the problems we had last season that resulted in us not scoring those goals which was really highlighted in the first half of the FA cup final was that we did not have enough players going forward into the box. This season players are going forward but look like they are half arsed about getting back to defend properly. But despite going forward in numbers they are still f*cking up the scoring opportunties in front of goal, its all just hit and miss. Last season despite our team - we managed to do well against the better sides and also beat them. This season we are either drawing against them or just losing against them. So in that regard can we really call it progress ? - we were already playing a good passing game under Kenny anyway. Also - this striker argument is a load of ballshit - the guy spent £10M on Borini, who is just not that great is he ? - good runs but has only scored one goal ?- in my view its £10M wasted on a player from what I consider to be a real inferior and extremely slow league now. That £10M could have been better spent or just simply saved for the winter transfer window to buy someone who maybe worth 18-21M. All this ballshit about 3-5 year plans from every manager we have had - what is that ballshit ? - can you imagine Barca/Real/Scum/AC Milan/Juventus/Inter/Chelsea/M.City stating that rubbish ? - its not really a 3/5-year plan to win the leauge either is it ? - right now it looks like a 3/5 year plan to get close to finishing 4th each season. If that is going to be the case - get ready to see an ULTRA average team with bugger all world-class talent in it because we will NOT be able to hold onto any of our good players.

I would hope for this season - our standard of play more consistently resembles the attractive football we have seen at times. The youngsters continue to progress. The transfer dealing of this January and next summer are sensible and forward-looking. I want the feeling at the end of the season that we've reached our nadir and are moving forward again.

I think we're already playing attractive football pretty consistently. What I want to see is a consistent cutting edge added to it, so that (a) Luis Suarez doesn't have to do it all on his own up front and (b) our points tally starts reflecting the balance of play more closely in more of our games than it does at the moment. For me this HAS to mean buying in a decent striker in January. If we do that, I'm quietly confident we'll surprise plenty of people by the end of this season.

So what are you saying?

Oh look, three years too late people start realising where we're going wrong

Says the person who didn't enjoy the good times and whose personal bias means they believe Rafa more responsible than those who almost bankrupted the club.

And what do you mean "too late" anyway. Imagine you had a time machine and you went back and got everyone on our little forum to opine in a different direction, "I know we're winning lots of games, gentlemen, but on the count of three be completely fucking miserable" holy shit the bold new future we'd be living in.
