Just looking at that - the paddock as standing was just before my time (mid eighties), or if it was still terracing then it didnt last much longer. Anyway - from that picture it looks like the terrace went a lot below pitch level, so was it not prone to flooding?

I'm just imagining those women stood in 6" of rain water .... at least, they weren't in the Kop, where it would have been 6" of warm yellow rainwater

As I remember from many moons ago (1969), the terrace at the front of the paddock was well below pitch level but then the tunnel was even lower so there must have been a good drainage system in place.
