The worst players ever to play for Liverpool under one manager.

All these players we lament nowadays, Lucas, Insua etc are probably the ones we dislike most because they're still here, but what manager has bought collectively the worst players ever in your opinion?

Obviously i'm limited to a whopping 3 managers to choose from, but despite his obvious successes i think for the prices paid for some of the flops, it has to go to Benitez with Aquilani, Keane etc.

Who do you reckon?

Got to be Souness IMO - though sadly it was the King who bought our absolute worst ever player, the hapless, hopeless Nicky Tanner.

So is it worst players or worst buys?

Keane and Aquilani, talented players, wouldn't be ranked amongst our worst. Worst buys however...

I think a did a similar thread called "Benitez's Nightmare XI" which put together a team of his buys.

It gives my nightmares.

Agree with Souness. Tanner hardly broke the bank at 20K. Souness could top that with Istvan Kozma (300K).

Josemi-------Pellegrino---------Palletta--------------Insewer

Nunez-------Aquilani-------------Lucas--------Gonzalez

---------------Morientes----------Keane---------------

Subs: Sissoko, Kromkamp, Zenden, Crouch, Drossena, Tennants

Beat that, Souey.

Wasn't there a poll somewhere as to the worst LFC player ever? I think Torben Piechnik was the winner. Might be mistaken though.

Ha, a few of the SQUAWK cunts actually said our midfield should be The Shithouse and Lucarse. Hahahahahahahah

Oh dear.

I know you won't like this Brendan but Insua was a young kid (who most people were raving about when he was in the reserves) who wouldn't have been in the 1st team if the other left backs weren't a) made of glass (Aurelio) or b) Fat and couldn't defend (Dossena)

Insua was fat and couldn't defend.

A few? I can bet that was and still is the popular opinion on there.

Pellegrino - worst liverpool CB I've even seen, and I've seen phil babb

insua - worst liverpool LB I've even seen, and I've seen djimi traore

josemi - worst liverpool right back I've ever seen? hmm...if he isn't I currently can't think of anyone worse

I usually give young players the benefit of the doubt but insua was fucking hopeless (HOPELESS!) a cursory at insua in training must have told roy all he needed to know about insua, number stripped off him and booted out of anfield at the first available transfer window.

to be fair to lucas, lucas isn't the worst CM I've ever seen play for liverpool.

Benitez didn't sign Diao

He'd be in my Houllier team:

-------------------------------Kirkland--------------------

Xavier------------Biscan--------------------Kippe---------------Traore

Diomede----------Diao--------------------Ferri-------------Cheyrou

-------------Meijer---------------------------Diouf-----------------

"Nicky Tanner - he was shit. He somehow managed to come in for training every day and be worse than the day before." [Jan Molby when asked who was the worst player he played with at LFC]. Sure, Tanner was cheaper than Kozma, but Kozma actually managed to show one or two nice touches to begin with, though he went rapidly downhill.

A cursory glance at the canteen bill did that Neil.

[/quote]Jesus. Benitez side would smash that. About 9-0

Souness had the worst players I can remember.

Worst ever gets put about far too easily though. In the late 1950's we almost went into division 3. I'm fairly sure they would have been worse than some of rafa's teams.

swap aquilani with plessis

I really don't see how Sissoko was a flop compared to the other players mentioned.

I thought momo was pretty darn good until his eye got fucked.

He couldn't pass a ball even before that. At his best (2006 Cup Final, Barca away) he could really take teams on, but he didn't hit those heights often enough for me.

Anyway, I'd 'assume' the correct answer is Phil Taylor.

Dropping Liddell against Worcester seems to make Rafa subbing off Fernando look small time!

Yeah that's what everyone keeps saying, but he's still doing well at Juve.
They let Poulsen go because Sissoko is ahead of him.

Yeah, I confess some of my teams combine shite, flops, and players I hate. Because they're shite and/ or flops

Obv Keane and Aquilani are better players than Erik and Diao

Plessis is a good shout
