My mate is an artist and uses his special art skills to open some fairly strange doors. Lots of what he's up to at the moment is top secret... I wish I could tell you about this one thing that is just damn cool and footy related but he told me not to.

Anyways, he made a football out of stem cells recently... but one thing he mentioned the other day was that he's met very senior people at Adidas and it's clear to him that the only thing stopping FIFA introducing tech now is that they want it completely locked down, patented, uncopyable and unmanufacturable by anyone else. They don't want to make anything where someone else could say... Yeah I can do that cheaper or better or whatever, they are working toward complex systems that rely on several patented parts. Something big is in development and it will be an article of profit, not improvement.

That's all folks.

How very useful

Well this is also kinda top secret but the process he developed as a result of taking this sideways glance at the technology has significantly advanced the move towards building complete organs. So yeah.

Think of the kids Woland.

Thousands of children will lose their jobs stitching footballs if FIFA start making them from stem cells.

bullshit. they wont introduce it becase then cheating in favour of utd or against us will be harder to do.

The main imaging technology used is via stereo images from 2 calibrated cameras (to remove lens distortion) to recreate a 3d scene accuratly. its called photogrammetry. its not new and nothing here is patentable.

You might want to hear about the paedophile lizards from outer space who are running the club.

And no doubt will save a few pigs from suffering bladder loss

The thing about bladders is, they only go to waste anyway. I blew one up to make a footy out of a few months ago. Lordy dordy did that thing ming.

It's no secret that Messi was a lab experiment.

Well they always need someone to provide stem cells. I'm sure there's an opportunity for exploitation somewhere there

Sorry but... what?? What tech do FIFA want locked down?? Are we talking about Goal-line technology here?

Yes. It's so when the clubs show it on big screens, when it's used alongside a tv replay, or during a highlights show, or after show talk in any of the 367,458 countries that broadcast it, they have to pay rights money to fifa.

The leagues using it will also have to pay money to fifa to use it. As it will be the only sanctioned technology they have no competition, they want to make sure they can market it as fully patented & different to anything else to prevent leagues attempting to push a different one, & to prevent tv companies from duplicating it to avoid paying rights.

I can't wait until football is just stats fed into a computer and it runs a programme to see who won the match. You know like Championship Manager.

It will be great.
