The Problem with Sunday Games...

I am guessing many of you like me are suffering from high tension and excitement at the prospect of our team winning a title after 24 years of screwing it up. I don't know about many of you - are you finding that your mind constantly wonders and you kind of play these scenario's out in your head regarding what-ifs and who we could possibly draw with or lose and somehow still win the title ? In the scheme of things - it is really a pointless waste of time thinking these things but what compounds the issue is that the games played on Sunday have a knock on effect into a working week !!! Here are the symptoms:-

1) Game played on Sunday and we win

2) Next 5 hours after the game you are doing all sorts of shit related to celebrating that win, and therefore you neglect the rest of your family (wife, and kids). For them it is like having some sort of stranger in the house who is not quite there in the head.

3) You go to work on Monday and when you should be working you are still thinking about the recent win and the next game and before you know it- your focus is not entirely on work and therefore you find that by the end of the week you are behind in what pays the bills for you. Right now - I seem to only respond to requests when the boss looks like he may get upset at me not delivering - otherwise I don't give a shit and want to day-dream about LFC- actually I want to quit my job until the season is over.

4) You want Saturday to just pass quickly which you would not normally want during your weekend off days.

5) Sunday comes and all you do is either plan or prepare for the game kick-off time.

6) Points 1-5 repeat again.

Many Thanks. I just wish the games were on Saturday so that I would at least give a shit about work by the time Monday comes.

Following the bold text (and I do know what you mean), I think if we win the league you have to prepare yourself for:
Next 5 months after the last game you are doing all sorts of shit related to celebrating.

Actually the games are on for me on Sunday morning Eastern USA time. I have usually been to Mass and am in a decently peaceful frame of mind. I've been watching a bit, but too on edge after a while to keep watching. So I go for a walk and get one of my sons to call me with the result when the game is done. That way I can compose myself before spending the rest of my day with the family. Today I watched most of the first half - was sent on my walk by my wife at half-time - my language was fine after their goal, but I may have been frothing at the mouth.

Yeah - that tension where you had to walk out at half-time. I was actually stuck on the motor way and and when I found out we were 1-1 at half time - Listened to the game as much I could for the 2nd half before I got too stressed and my wife told me to put it off - which I did. Turned it on maybe 10 minutes later and we were 2-1. Then I felt compelled to leave it on while driving - it is really tough. I should be in bed right now.

Agreed. I should be asleep now as well. It's fucking 2AM here.
I do think playing on a Sunday is more beneficial to the team because the results of our rivals could motivate the team.
