What a weird fucking list. You've got Burrows, Ziege and Aurelio, but no Riise?!

I was ready to vote Nicol too, but will go with Alan Kennedy. Although my memories of him are pretty vague, I must admit.

Added now.

No Gerry Byrne? Probably the hardest player , apart from Souness to play for us. Played virtually the whole of the 65 cup final with a broken collar bone
In which case it has to be Alec Lindsay, another tough guy, great a defending and with a great shot too, unfortunately his like would not last five minutes in the tarts game of today

regards

From my time, Alan Kennedy followed by Alan Kennedy. Any other vote is mental. Unless you never saw Alan Kennedy.

Nope. Gerry Byrne - a boyhood bluenose incidentally - was the only man who ever made Tommy Smith hesitate before going into a tackle with him, and played all but the first couple of minutes of our first F.A.Cup Final win in 1965 (before substitutes were allowed) with a broken collarbone. Dicks was nasty, but Gerry Byrne would have broken him in half.

I'm abstaining on this vote, but agree with the above entirely.

I thought the hardest would be Julian Dicks?
[/quote]

Pah!

I'd even back Skully to take him out.

Jimmy was hard as nails, but did not have the mean cold streak the other two had

Hmmm I'm not sure Vaughan Ryan of Wimbledon would agree with this.

Haha

First and last time in his life, that Dennis Wise's words of wisdom should of been listened too.

Indeed. I seem to remember another story where a player had been giving another of our team grief and when the ref's back was turned Case throw a right cross and put him on the floor and jogged off in another direction. Might have been a European opponent.

Ruthless cold streak? Case definitely had one!

There's an other story about him and Ray Kennedy. They were room mates on away games and after a bad defeat in Europe (might have been Tbilisi?), Jimmy was making a scene in the bar so Ray came along, punched him, knocked him out, put him over his shoulder and put him to bed. That's in someone's autobiog. Possibly Souness'.
