The ironic cheer in the 38th minute (Reading)

The problem for Suarez is just when he was getting sympathy from every quarter after Norwich he went and fucked it up with that pathetic dive at home to Stoke.

If he hadn't done that and had take a kicking 2 games in a row without any help from the ref I think you would have seen alot of refs being more fair with him.

Pretty much its going to take him staying on his feet and not getting a couple more awful decisions in big games before it will change.

Quite right. The club had really -for the first time in ages - managed the PR well and turned the pressure on to the refs, and then Suarez blew it.

Yep he fucked up doing that. Only thing I would say is that, based on Pats argument, he should have started getting some fair decisions during the Stoke game before the dive. You know, whilst he was getting chunks hacked out of him and was being stamped on. Or was one more game of that needed do ya think ?

Yes he should have. But it was always going to take longer than expected. The key point was the refs had come under the spotlight just before Suarez messed up again.

Not disagreeing with that Macca, he needs to knock it on the head. I would always have doubts about getting fair judgement though. I mean even when the analysis took place of him being assaulted at Norwich it was a case of "he doesn't help himself though" .

I agree 100% but unfortunately it was boiling point for the boy who cried wolf so it would have taken a few games of rough treatment highlighted in the papers and on MOTD and sky for Refs and the people outside of LFC to notice.
After Stoke I actually doubt he'll ever get an unbiased Ref again which is highly unfair but very understandable.

They make enough big game mistakes like missing a peno or awarding one for a dive and there would be calls for them not to ref big games or in an extreme case any games in the Premiere league again.

So of course knowing this they will take any previous knowledge or players with them into the game. Its perfectly human.

I just don't know if Suarez is capable of not going down for the number of games it would take to get back to a level view of him which is highly depressing as he's easily the most exciting player we have had since Barnes.

'very understandable'? You mean like 'highly unfair' refs that ignore Bale's dives? or Ronaldo's? Or Drogba's (in the past)? etc? Yah 'understandable'

We have to be more critcial of our players than others, we have to be more accepting of wrongs against us than against others, ideally we shoudl throw in some man love for rival's managers & players as so much better than our own ... its the new mould of a superfan; anything else would be conspiracy-theory-red-tinted-specs dillusion

Why do you think the refs ignore the fact that they're cheats too?

Drogba got his fair share of calls, and he was one of the biggest floppers this country has known.

Bale dives non-stop, and gets the calls ... He's not been labeled a 'cheat' yet oddly enough, though his dives actually win penalties, not yellows!

The excessive attention on Suarez (and yes, he does dive & play act) has meant he gets little protection from refs, as opposed to others who dive & play act as much as him.

I don't think so. Everyone is calling Bale a cheat. Drogba used to get stick from every media source and every opposing fan and missed out on calls because of it.

Factually, Bale got booked for diving twice last season, Suarez once.

I was at a recording of a pilot for a 6-0-6 style football panel show yesterday, and the subject of diving came up, and everyone, panel and audience alike, was keen to point out that Suarez is often unfairly singled out and Bale and others (including a long tradition of British players) are just as guilty.

FWIW I think there's probably been plenty of bias in the past but most people are now wising up to that and trying to redress the balance.

No - I've seen enough articles saying "Bale should curve diving if he doesn't want to be labeled a cheat." Drogba got a ton of calls though, calls Suarez barely gets. Granted, as you say, he did miss out on calls - but he got enough to make up for it. Suarez isn't getting that.

As for yellow cards, I don't feel it's relevant to this discussion - we're talking about how it seems that our player doesn't get his fair share of calls based on his reputation, while others who are as guilty do ... this year. Last year, I don't seem to remember it being like this. He got his fair share of calls ...

I think with Drogba, and to a lesser extent Bale, they were in teams that were doing well, so it just wasn't as big a story, or at least it was a story that tended to be overshadowed by bigger stories about the club. Until Liverpool start challenging again for the top four, with other players regularly making an impact, it will all be about Suarez.

That's for actual 'dives'. As in not touched but going to ground.
Suarez gets half the actual fouls waves away because he's Suarez. That's the problem.

Apart from that video 1 page back where he got a free-kick for zero of course.

WOW! How about against Stoke when he was stamped on, AND the ref saw it ... A red card offense that got what? One bad call on the ref's part to protect a player doesn't not make a player 'protected.'

Ryan - Simple question. Has Suarez gotten a fair go of it from the referees this season? Yes or No?

And what do you or anyone else get from my response to this? Vindication? Anger?

It's not that fucking simple and black n white so therefore any answer is completely pointless. In the same vein I could ask you - “Do you think Suarez has dived loads this season? Yes or no?” but what would that fucking achieve.

So in short, your question is fucking stupid and I’m ignoring it.

Ryan, Whad or anyone on here would answer yes to your question. No one is claiming Suarez doesn't dive at times. No one is claiming he hasn't dived this season.

The answer my friends is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind....

One thing is for sure, all the divings and simulations that ever happened in the world of football are Suarez's fault!

Yes, but I wouldn't ask such a patently stupid fucking question Dave, which was my point.
