A few posters though they'd had spent brilliantly over the summer, and with the return of Wilshere, they'd be a dark horse. Other posters though they were a 'one man team' who's finish last year was solely due to RvP, and this year, it's the same team minus those goals.

Their defense is shaky - No stand out defenders there (not even Vermaelen imo, who's not been great this year at all). Their midfield is excellent, but lacks what it did last year - the Flamini type player who can do the dirty work and protect Cazorla etc. Their strikers, on paper, are excellent but Giroud and Podolski have not provided the goals they were meant to provide.

Walcott is seemingly the next player out, along with Sagna.

Will Wenger survive this season? He's been brilliant for them but has his time come?

I will be very surprised if this team finishes 4th ... That being said, it's such an average league this year that a team like them, Everton, Spurs ... or us ... can still take that spot with a strong run.

I fucking hate them. The fart that doesn't smell. Media-darling, tippy-tappy-no-winny, blind-manager, arrogant, trophyless, atmosphere-free twats. I hope they fail, then fail gain, then fail a bit more. If Wenger was a Liverpool manager he would have been slagged and slated in the press as a mentally unhinged foreign weirdo years ago.

Hope they implode, sack Wenger and finish outside the Top 10. I'd poach Wiltshere from them.

I can't hate them. My dad was a Gooner, and if I'd been less inclined to make my own choices I could well have followed in his footsteps.

That said, I do think Wenger's reaching his sell-by date.

Arf. I'd say "no", because I don't think they will collapse, but I do think they're in for a period of readjustment whether Wenger stays or goes.

Did I make it clear how much I hate them? No? O.K.
For '71, '87, '89. For their fans forgetting they played hideous football for years under Graham, for the fact they think they are entitled to win because they play the ' beautiful game', for the fact the press NEVER slag them off, for their cunt of a manager and their history of hateful players. Wenger is done, but I will enjoy their board not realising it for a long time yet. No trophy in 7 years, no champion's league despite being in the competition every year for fucking years and years. Fuck them.

Errrr... what Dean said!

There was an article in the Metro on the day of the cup game saying that Wenger was drumming it into them that they had to win in 90 minutes because of how poor they are at penalty shoot outs.

How about that for mental preparation?

He's a grey and miserable husk of the man he used to be and he blights the day just by being in it like some walking, whining, bubblewrapped Tutankhamun. Begone with you!

I don't mind Arsenal but always love a bit of tribal hatred. I actually respect what Wenger has achieved at Arsenal and brought to the English game. It's fair enough to say that they've not won anything in a long time, but then when your net spend is in the green a lot of the time then it's hard to be overly critical.

Arsenal fans are expecting them to challenge the likes of City and Utd and right now that is unrealistic given what they spend.

When they claimed Carra's soft lob of a pound coin badly injured 2,562 fans within one fantastic triangle of wanton carnage, they summoned up the wrath of Beelzebub and damned themselves to an eternal afterlife in which each Gooner fan will be stabbed repeatedly with hot pokers in time to an indestructible tape loop of 'Hoof the ball!'

I didn't see the game. How the fuck did he miss that?
ball was coming across the face of goal and he tried to stick his foot onto it but he misjudged where it'd be.

The still makes it look fucking abysmal, when in actuality it was just merely horrific

And whilst on the subject of Arsenal..................Gervinho punched the ball into the net last night hoping the ref wouldn't spot the handball but he got booked. The relevance being, the SKY commentator just commentated on the incident as did the co-commentator but without expressing any particular opinion and similarly the incident was pretty much overlooked in the studio. Unlike last week when Suarez punched the ball into Southampton's net; one pundit (Merson, I think) remarked "no wonder people hate him!" and a fellow pundit agreed with a similarly worded comment.

FFS, Coke snorting, alcoholic Merson being the voice of morality...Go fuck yourself Paul.

Typical of the media biased against us. Anywho, will make things all the sweeter when we win the league in 2013-2014.

Ha ha Amen to that. For some reason I detest Spurs more though.

Indeed, though I have to put my hand up and say I quite liked the look of him at one time. Gervinho on the other hand never convinced me.

Yes - I too was disappointed to lose out on Chamakh, but not bothered at all about Gervinho. As for Arsenal as a team - I'd rather they won than United or Chelsea. Wenger has produced some excellent teams and players over the years.

I thought Arsenal had a ton of money to spend this January ? Anyways, I don't mind if Wenger stays, he guarantees they will not win anything and keeps the fans deluded into thinking they've got a great manager. Better the devil you know.

I never rated Chamakh in France and when some on here were wringing their hands at Arsenal 'scooping' him (sounds painful) I was delighted and said so right here. He's crap.

I was having a yarn with a mate last night about Gervinho. He really is a shitbag.

There are two distinctions of a rubbish player - A rubbish player who is utterly useless and nothing remotely good about them is a 'shit bag'. Gervinho, Chamakh and Marvello all fit this term. Then you have a rubbish player that can have a touch of class about him sometimes. He is called a 'merde sac' - Adebayor, De Gea, Nani tend to be good examples of a 'merde sac'.
