....the starting line up.

A couple of years ago we only had Gerrard and Carra.

Now with Carroll and the emergence of Kelly it's suddenly:

Reina

Kelly Carra Agger Johnson

Lucas Meireles

Kuyt Gerrard Suarez

Carroll

And next season we might see Ashley Young taking Kuyt's spot and Gary Cahill or Shawcross in defence.
Point is, I think it's a great step forward. I think it's important to have a core of good British/English players in order to win the league.
Despite the fact that I'm an OOTer I like that the team is getting more of a British identity. Hopefully we'll even see some homegrown players in the future as well. That's were the passion originates from, is kept alive and passed on to the next generation.

I hope we don't sign anymore English players. They are all vastly over-rated.

By the way you have forgotten Cole.

We have enough English players to meet any quota requirement, i just hope we buy someone from Europe/Africa/South America who offers great value for money, and turns out to be a sensation. We need some great technical ability and creativity on the flanks.

I think Cahill is good enough.
Don't care who we buy next, we already have an English core now.
Just want the next player who joins to improve the team.

Martin Keown:

It is a sign of Liverpool going back to the old days when the club always bought the best British player on offer. It is the sort of positive move the fans were hoping Kenny Dalglish would bring. It is almost a demonstration that the owners were not going to just sit on cash generated by the Torres sale.

Moved kuyt to the right

No difference.

If we play 4231 with Carroll and Suarez should be like this:

-------Carroll
---------Suarez
Maxi/Cole----------Kuyt
---Gerrard Meireles
etc

hahahah I momentarily forgot that the sight is now changing his name to El Cunt, and thought to myself, Martin Keown is a standup guy

Every time we've added an Englishman we've ended up worse off in the last two seasons - exponentially so when one was our manager.

I know everyone is putting a brave face on things, but I'm concerned about Carroll as a replacement for Torres.

With the right service I think he'll do just fine.

What cause for concern could you possibly have? Carroll is a time tested premiership striker who has his home life sorted out completely, and we got him on the cheap. It's a no risk replacement for one of the world's best.

The only good thing is that even when pushed into being wasteful in the short term, we bought a player consistent with long term goals of building a younger squad. It could pan out but you can't write that history till after the summer.

Ha!

It does seem like we have an exciting summer to look forward to. I just hope we can see a decent six months from both Suarez and Carroll so we have something positive to build on.

The New Premier League 25 Squad Rules:

Each Premiership team must submit a 25 man squad on the 1st of September, 24 hours after transfer deadline.

The 25 must consist of a minimum of 8 home grown players (home grown is a player that has been affiliated with the FA or Wales FA for at least 3 years prior to their 21st birthday)

There can be an unlimited amount of Under-21 players to supplement the 25 man squad.

Under 21 is under 21 as at 01/01/2010 or be born after 01/01/1989 for this season.

so we don't even have to name him as he's classed as under 21?

boss
