To be honest.. that's bollocks.

How's Matip there ahead of Gomez.
Eh because Matip played half of last season and up until November this season?
So Gomez 2 months vs Matip 8 months?
Edit, actually it's Gomez 1 month since Lovren played in November.

Gomez has been excellent for a few weeks (and was also excellent before his injury)
Matip stepped in and was also excellent until injured.

It's Gomez for me too, BUT, it's not bollocks to suggest Matip with his longer spell of excellence got the shout, it's got to have been very close.

There are actually Everton fans kicking off about this in twitter.

Not one of them has made any suggestion about what player/s they would replace though. Funny that.

For my money Matip's the right choice in this case. He was better than good before his injury - he was immense, our most improved player by a country mile, my MOTM in the Champions League Final against Tottenham and unrecognisable compared with the jittery giraffe he used to be. I love the fact that Gomez seems to be back in the groove and I suspect most of us think he and Virgil were always going to be our first choice CB duo again some day, but he's taken a while to get back to his best and, over the year as a whole, Matip defo deserves the nod IMHO.

Never seen this before.

Imagine how shit both teams must have been for Kelly and Gibson to have been chosen.

Fuck me.

We should have had a blackout last year too, Pickford & Sigurdsson 😀 😀 😀 😀

Tbf there's a fair few of them that are sane like.

Is he the first choice England keeper now?

Not that it’s a high bar or anything. Personally think Foster is doing better but think he’s “retired”

Having read the Everton forum comments they are mostly agreeing that it’s right but they do make good points about it being unnecessarily pushed on to the Everton feed and, more importantly, it does give fuel to the pre match team talk from Ancellotti

They should consider themselves lucky to get the "Ever" part of "Everton" into the "Ever-pool" name at this point, that's how dire they are.
