Very good chance as I think they way we and even Chelsea play would have given them more problems, I'd go yes too

Yes, and so could Man U if they'd picked a better side, a better formation, had better tactics and their players had performed better.

The level of Barca and United in that final was a total one-off, as Chelsea proved in the semi, and United proved when effortlessly dismissing Barca in last year's semi.

As it turned out, I think we'd have given them a much more difficult game than Utd did, but I can't really call it one way or another.

For all we know, we might have had a horrible off night as well.

Provided we were on our game, though, I think we'd have won. We'd have stifled them in our half, and in theirs that defence would not have coped with the Torres-Gerrard duo. You can bet they wouldn't have relished the prospect of playing us again.

I think we would have taken them but it would have required us to use 'spolier' tactics. not pretty and wouldn't make us many friends but who gives a fuck if we make it 6.

Yes, Europe has been our bread and butter over the last 3 or 4 years.

We've got it more right, than wrong in the CL.

for the record I thought chelsea got their tactics spot on, completely strangled the life out of the game reducing barca to a single shot on target all night. a half decent ref and that game would have been over first half.

No doubt about it. Barca played as everyone knew they would (the only way they know how) and I think they were there for the taking. Any of the PL's top four would have beaten them if they'd been on top of their game.

Not sure about Arsenal. They play very similarly, but with worse players.

No, no team in the world can play a Barca side when they pass like they did.

But they always play and pass like they did.

Our tactics wouldn't have allowed them to play they did. If you 'let' them play like that, they'll beat anyone, regardless of how good your players are.

Scum got their tactics all wrong.

I think much too much is being made of their tactics. Utd lost because their big players just didn't perform.

I thought barca looked clueless against manu and chelsea in the home and away legs this and last season respectively. and to be honest they looked clueless in the first ten minutes of the final, had manu scored first it would have been VERY interesting to see how they (barca) would have reacted.

Yes.

JS Park was shit from the first whistle and replaced by an equally bad Berb. Carrick got the ball and punted it hoping to make a miracle pass to Park. Its not tactics, its was just the occasion got the better of them.

If they'd have held onto it, taken the sting out of the game and played it around, they might have got back into it.

What do Liverpool thrive on? Taking the heat out of the game when required. All season the players have confidently passed it around, looking for an opening and mostly not throwing possession away.

If it was Liverpool, we'd still be pissed.

In fairness, a lot of the passes they were trying to play from midfield were along the right idea as they took Barca's defence completely out of the equation time and time again. They weren't all Hollywood balls either - normally they'd have had a much better completion ratio. They just didn't play well on the night and more appallingly, lacked fight.

They would have reacted just as they did when they were staring defeat in the face in the semi-final ie they wouldn't have reacted at all. They would have just kept passing the ball around in search of an opening.

they weren't that fantastic, the early goal really settled them. if Man Utd defended better they could have prolonged the match and it could have swung their way

as it happens the early goal allowed to control the match pretty much and forced United to bring on Tevez, thus giving them space for the 2nd goal and it was game over.

I reckon we'd be capable of taking them. i dont subscribe to this "best team ever" nonsense that gets knocked around.

Yep. After all we beat Man Utd just as comfortably as they did, And I'd back Rafa to win the tactical battle over the novice, Pep.

Are you lot fcuking kidding me ?

Mascher would have kicked the living shit out out of Xavi and Iniesta and take the words 'cultured' and 'artistry' and stuff it back into their arses.

Carra would have slapped Messi's face before he even dared dribble past him.

Stevie and Torres would have caused their laughable excuse of a defence endless problems.

Ok in reality, we would probably lose on paper.

But we're Liverpool...we always seem to thrive and surprise everyone when we're the underdogs and backs against the walls. Nobody gave us a chance but we went to Nou Camp and slapped their faces both sideways. And with a much inferior team that were fighting internally prior to the match.

No doubt in my mind we would have won if we played against Barca.

I think this particular Barca side is one of the best in world football, certainly one of the best I've seen. I am not a Barca fan, but I watched almost every game they played this season because I could see they were going to achieve great things. Knowing how to stop them and actually doing it are two different things, as many teams have already discovered. If we were to meet them in the final, I have no doubt that we would have given them a much closer game than ManU, but I would still pick Barca as 55 to 45 favorites to win it.
