Gini has won 133 out of his first 200 games for the club.

The greatest win rate at this milestone of any player in the history of the club.

Considering he’s most likely off in the summer and often divides opinion where do people feel Gini will sit in the history folklore of LFC fans?

He was never a superstar so he wont be remembered in those terms, but hes part od the spine of this team, maybe more than any other player given his ever present nature. He goes down in club history for the Barca comeback alone. Incredible workrate combined with a high level of versatility, the signature of a Klopp midfielder. Hope he stays but I understand if he moves on.

I'll remember him as a pivotal member of the team who made us Champions again.
On form he's probably our best midfielder. I wish we would have seen more of national team Gini but that's down to having different roles.

We are going to lose him. I'm convinced. It will be a big loss. Not least because he is always available, and is very dependable and versatile. He is like Gerrard with a bit more discipline and bit less bravery.

Talking about Gerrard, the fume have turned on KDB and have started saying he's gone like him, as if that's a bad thing, trying too hard and doing everything himself and ultimately fucking up the rhythm.

As for Gini, I'd rather he stayed but we have got some pretty ace midfielders, he's getting on, and we'll sign someone else. It's his resilience we'll miss more than anything else. All the rest are play one week miss two.

So, like the blueshite referred to Gerrard as Stevie Me, we can now refer to him as Kevin De Moi

The only people he divides are those who understand football and Liverpool FC, and those who are complete know-nothing preening, attention-seeking little twats who should fuck and 'support' some other 'brand.'

Where did this idea that turning 30 is 'getting on'? I'm sure we were never that bothered about that ageing landmark in the past were we?

In terms of busy midfielders, McMahon, Souness, Kennedy and Hughes were all shipped out at that age, every one a legend. That said I think Gini will be in far better shape than any of them were. But everyone else is too. That's the level innit.

They've turned on De Bruyne? Best player in the league.
Maybe they should sign a proper striker, and also not play their best player too deep to do donkey work.

I seems to me that his contract renewal is dragging out on a point of principle - he wants 4 years, we're offering 3. In Gini's case, I'd say he will still have at least 4 years left in him at a standard that will be good enough for us, he strikes me as a sensible guy who looks after himself and 30 isn't what it used to be - an intelligent player who looks after himself can keep going longer than they used to as the likes of Gary Mac, James Milner or Gareth Barry have proved - all good pros with long careers.
I just think we don't want to concede this point because of the precedent it sets for other players. Similar to when we wouldn't give Emre Can a release clause - for his contract in isolation it made sense but then every player would have wanted one.
I hope we can resolve this because I wouldn't want to lose him at all, and certainly not for no fee. Maybe they can put an option in for a fourth year if he meets certain appearance conditions.

And where do superfans fit in?

I'm kinda confused...but ultimately trust in Klopp. In Gini, we have a player that rarely gets injured and is one of the most underrated players on our team. How important is Gini? His energy in the middle of the park is amazing, kinda scared that we let him go because we think he's not that important compared to the rest and then realizes, that he's difficult to replace. As I said I trust in Klopp, if Klopp really wanted him and valued him then I'm sure his influence would get Gini whatever he wanted, unless Gini has had his head turned already by a 4 year 400k a week contract by one of the mega-rich teams. Regardless I don't think any player who has left Klopp has gone on to bigger and better things, Emre Can, Benteke, Solanke, Ibe, Joe Allen, Sakho, Lovren (and Coutinho to a certain extent) have all gone downwards after leaving Klopp, so I'm resting my thoughts there.

He’s a bit silly running down his contract in a season where everyone is getting injured and the financial wellbeing of the game is unclear.

Not least because he wants to go to a basket case of a club that are more than likely to sack their manager at least once by the time Gini actually players for them.

Klopp will obv.have massive sway in the club's decision-making but I don't think he'd always be given the final word. If he had been, Werner would be a Liverpool player now. I hope we can find a way to keep Gini but, like the old adage says, no player is bigger than the club.

Err Joe Allen? He was never going onto greater things, no?

I'm not sure about this thread title.

For me, if anything, Gini is the "Upgraded Lucas".

He still has his critics for similar reasons that Lucas got so much stick, but because he's a better player, it's getting harder for people to ignore his contribution.
