Now, given that Aussies and South Africans are in the minority here, I very much doubt if we can come up with a plethora of shark tales, but let's not let that get in the way of things.
FWIW, here's my shark story:
When I was a little kid (real little, in retrospect I'm sort of surprised I was allowed to do this, cos I was probably about 3) there were two films I used to watch every day without fail, and a couple more I watched fairly regularly.
The fairly regularly ones were Alien and King Kong, and the every day ones were Jaws and The Italian Job. (Incidentally, I always had to look away for the 'alien bursting through the chest' scene, because it was too scary.)
So around this time we go on holiday to America, to LA, and we end up going to the Universal Studios tour. Unbeknownst to me, they've got this Jaws ride - there I am, thinking that this is just a nice little train ride over a lake when suddenly A MASSIVE FUCKING SHARK JUMPS OUT OF THE WATER AND TRIES TO EAT ME.
Apparently my Dad actually had to catch me after I nearly jumped off the other side of the train, and I didn't stop crying for fucking ages.
Not the best story in the world, but a story nonetheless. Anyhoo, here's a massive fucking great white
