It probably has no bearing on LFC in the long run but since we've mentioned it before we might as well follow it through. From what I can gather this is the current position :
The last update was that the MLB commissioner had taken control of the sale and had agreed to sell to the Nolan / Greenberg group. Nolan Ryan is currently team president and one of the greatest pitchers the game of baseball had ever seen, and he finished his career with Texas.
The creditors of Hicks Sports Group weren't happy with the deal because they wouldn't recoup all the money they were owed. A long stand off ensued between MLB and the creditors with all sorts of posturing. It turned out the Nolan/ Greenburg bid was struggling to raise all of the finance they thought they had secured and are struggling to take over. It has also been mentioned that the other bid from Jim Crane was for a higher amount , and the finance was all in place.
MLB seem to be on the verge of cancelling the agreed deal with Nolan / Greenberg and putting the club up for auction, they've also given the green light to Mark Cuban to bid for the Rangers.
The chances are that Tom Hicks will emerge better from this than he would have though intially.
