Team of the year

Robertson should be there ahead of Alonso.

He could have been if he had a full season. Alonso wasn't as exceptional as last year but still consistently good until the recent Chelsea slump.
I'm more doubtful about Aguero - has he really been that good this season? Other than that I think it's pretty straight forward.

There's a paucity in good left backs in the league, the standouts are Alonso and robbo. Robbo only playing half a season probably impacted that. Alonso scored a fair few goals as well

I think Alonso and Aguero are both very lucky to be in there.

I also think Firmino is very unluckeee not to be.

Aguero has scored 21 league goals, 30 overall, and his team won the title and league cup. Why wouldn't he be in there?

Not sure theres much to disagree with in all fairness.

The attacking 3 is a bit Garth crooks like

If salahs there then surely left wing should be a winger?

Sterling could easily take his place - scored 17 league goals from a non-central position, assisted loads and played more so you could argue he was more instrumental for this City side + he's young and English, which is always a bonus at these things. Happy to see him being overlooked though

Otamendi is shit. Alonso has been good in a dodgy Chelsea side but Robertson has been the best RB in the league this year– and before you say that he wasn't playing at the start of the season he has played as many games as Aguero and only 2 less than Silva.

I like robbo, but I think these POTY things look as goals and assists more than anything else for every position bar centre back

Alonso has been good on that front

right but Aguero has outscored all but Salah and Kane and Silva made more and looked boss as most.

Roberterson, despite occasional impressions, doesn't play cam or aa a forward either , so I'm not sure your point stands.

Robertson has been phenomenal this season,Alonso or Robertson is a very tight one ,could easily be either

Youre probably right. Just doesnt feel like hes been very good this year. Surrounded by De Bruynes, Silvas, Sterlings, Sanes etc just feels like hes done what he should have. Not excelled.

Interesting that Robertson doesn't rate higher than Alonso

Alonso's stats make Robbo's pale into insignificance despite how good Robbo has been for us.

BTW using similar defensive metrics VvD demolishes both Vertonghen and Otamendi (I fed in 15 defence based stats and VvD came out on top in 8 of them, Vertonghen 3 and Otamendi 4). Interestingly if you take a simple "Overall Defence Rating', then VvD (15.42) and Vertonghen (15.41) are miles ahead of Otamendi (7.08) and if including the CL then VvD is in the stratosphere (27.22) to Vertonghen (0.71 !!!) and Otamendi (16.97). Of course a lack of games is the reason VvD doesn't make the team.
