Well on the plus side our team will look less racist when Sturridge and Ince join.

wilkins talking about him on sky sports saying he always thought he should be getting played through the middle despite having anelka and drogba as competition

He will expect to play down the middle at Liverpool as well, despite having Suarez and Neymar as competition

Liverpool have invested time, energy and money to move Sturridge to Anfield. They have pursued him for the last two years and have paid at least £12m, although Chelsea sources hinted last night that the package would start at £16m. The tribunal ruled City will receive 15 per cent of any profit.

Chelsea are putting together a £1.5million golden goodbye for Daniel Sturridge to make sure that he joins Liverpool.
The clubs have agreed a £12million fee for the striker, who underwent a medical on Sunday and who is expected to sign a three-and-a-half year deal in the next 24 hours.
However, it needed the addition of a cash sweetener to facilitate the move after Sturridge indicated that he would be happy to stay at Stamford bridge and fight for his place until his contract expires in 18 months.
The on-off transfer hit a snag last week over the payment of agent fees and Chelsea were keen to avoid any more hitches as they seek to off-load Sturridge and his £60,000-a-week wages.

only from tabloids but a deal starting at 16m seems a little steep.

and the second story if true , is typical of agents and the football world

I'm guessing we've offered 50K a week, and Chelsea is picking up the 10K a week slack with that payoff (1.5m is just nice to cover 10K a week for 3 years).

Source studsup? You can't just wade into the thread with random information like that without telling us where it's from!

nah , i'd just say it's one of those crappy football things where even if a player isn't getting game time and probably wants to move you still have to pay him off if he doesn't officially hand in a transfer request . Christ knows we've been bent over many times in the last few yrs by that .

Daniel Sturridge’s move to Liverpool FC nears after he passes his medical

DANIEL STURRIDGE is on the brink of making a £12million move to Liverpool FC from Chelsea after passing his medical.
The 23-year-old striker was on Merseyside yesterday to undergo a series of tests after agreeing personal terms with the Reds.
There is unlikely to be any official announcement from the club about the England international’s arrival until after the transfer window has opened.
Wednesday, January 2 is the first day that the paperwork can be processed so until then no deal can be completed.
The transfer ran into trouble last week due to the cash demands of Sturridge’s agent but those issues have since been resolved.
Boss Brendan Rodgers had lined up Paris Saint Germain striker Kevin Gameiro as an alternative option, but the Northern Irishman was always confident that Sturridge would grasp the chance to kick-start his career with the Reds.
Sturridge, who has only recently recovered from a hamstring injury and hasn’t played since mid-November, leaves Chelsea after three and a half years at Stamford Bridge.
He has found his opportunities limited in the capital, but boasts a respectable scoring record of 24 goals in 49 starts. He also made a further 47 substitute appearances.
Sturridge, who has four England caps, came through the ranks at Manchester City after joining them at the age of 13.
He made his first-team debut against Reading in 2007 but frustrated by a lack of game-time he rejected a new contract and moved to Chelsea in July 2009.
The Birmingham-born frontman enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bolton in the 2010/11 season when he netted eight goals in 12 games.
Sturridge has been restricted to just one start and six substitute outings in the Premier League so far this season with his only strike in October’s 4-2 win at Tottenham.
Liverpool will now turn their attentions to wrapping up a deal for Blackpool’s Tom Ince. The Reds remain confident that an agreement will be struck.

Funnily enough, other than Glen and Richardson on Saturday, who are both mixed race, there were no black players that started on Saturday, unusual these days

regards

Arf.

Shades of the mid-to-late 90s here. At one point Uncle Roy was said to be interested in Daniel's uncle Dean Sturridge, a similar type of player as it happens, though probably not quite as talented.

NOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I still think Sturridge is OK. Wanted him as part of the deal when Torres left. However I'm just worried that he and Suarez won't make a good partnership.

Yeah I was quite hot on him at that time too...doesn't seem to have come on the way I thought he would though.

(well I'd still rather we took him than Carroll but....)

Ha. ha...

Sturridge just has to play in the middle. He's wasted on the wing.
