Sturridge

I've been fairly impressed with his judgement in the market so far. Allen was a masterstroke, albeit a predictable one given his relationship with the player. Borini is a clever player. Assaidi is promising. Yesil, of course, was superb business.😉 So whatever other misgivings I have, I'm quite happy to give him the benefit of the doubt over this. I don't think any top club would have Sturridge as a top target, but he's fast, versatile and on his day he can be a goal threat. If Rodgers can get into his pants mind and sort out his attitude and lapses in concentration, who knows, he could be very effective. Beggars can't be choosers.

Bloody hell thats a bit of an overstatement....

Non of his signings have covered themselves in any glory as they have been poor overall. They may indeed come good but the jury is well and truly out as to whether he is any good in the transfer market.

Don't care about his signings he introduced Sterling, Shelvey and Suso. That's enough for me.

What's an overstatement? I'd say 'poor overall' is a bit of an overstatement.

Adam, Downing, Carroll and Hendo, should be enough of a reason to stop scouting senior players in the PL.

It shouldnt. Thats a sign of doing something with the scouting, and we have.

We will of course sign players from abroad aswell, but if there is a good deal to be done at home you do that aswell.

Ince is a good deal. Sturridge a bigger risk, but hopefully it will work out.
They've got age on their side aswell.

Allen = Poor
Borini = Poor
Assiadi = Average when played - but ask yourself considering Downings been that shite why hasn't he gotten more minutes.
Yesil = Can't say as hasn't played.

Listen, none of his signings have done anyhting of note. None of his signings have delivered anything, yes I know Allen isn't playing in his favourite postion and hasn't had a break for 2 years(yadda yadda yadda) - he plays like a crab. Borini rarely looked like scoring, yes he works hard but end product from a forward is the requriement. Assiadi, you have to ask why isn't he playing more, what has been seen in training to make Rodgers not give him more playing time. Yesil, I have no opinion of as he hasn't featured.

I am not saying that they won't come good but Allen a masterstroke - massive overstatement and then some....

I get what you're saying an I agree, but you can't possibly say that Ince is a good deal?
We should have never let him go but he's young and that makes it somewhat OK.

Allen hasn't been poor, and you're not getting my point about that signing - I'm saying it will prove itself to be a masterstroke in time, and as I already rated him hugely, that's why I said it. "Poor"? That's crazy. Borini hardly had any games before getting injured. Assaidi has had a niggling injury.

I'm excited about the prospect of Sturridge joining on the 1st.

Pacy as fuck, got a trick or two and knows where the goal is. At 23 with loads of prem experience, what's not to like?

I predict he'll prove a hit.

Allen hasn't been poor, he had a great first quarter of the season and average second quarter. Assaidi has been quite good when he has played but has suffered injuries.

I don't get this criticism of Allen as being a crab sometimes.

If the movement ahead is static, which it often is what's he supposed to do, lump it forward and hope?

Firstly, Give him a chance? This is a message board and people are more than entitled to air their views about a prospective signing. Having concerns about our transfer policy does not necessarily translate into doom and gloom. He'll get a chance if and when he signs.

Secondly, this notion of "well, who else could we sign" has been shown up time and time again as clubs seem to somehow by miracle sign good players for reasonable prices despite having no CL football to offer either.

Thirdly, anyone is not better than no-one. The last thing we can afford to do is saddle ourselves with more expensive failures, which will impact our ability to buy in future transfer windows.
Wrong
Debatable
Wrong, or at least stop being so obtuse as to take it literally.

The criticism is, for the second half of the season, he has given it away too much and given away too many reckless tackles.

i take it you didn't listen to commoli on talksport then when he cleared up the whole ince situation. We didn't let him go, he wanted to leave.

You trust Comolli? Never mind, it's not about trust. It's about letting a player go then buying him back for 10 times more than what we got when he was released. It's not a good deal imo.

Why didn't we tie him down a year before?
The kid wanted to play, we weren't giving him any chances and he left, rightly so.

Modo, Ince was asking for ridiculous demands, that's why we let him go. We've had a change of management since so yer know, things change.

I know, I hope he's worth every penny. I hope he surpasses his father but until then it's a poor deal.
Mainly poor management.

You seem little impressed by our scouting network because we're about to sign two young players from the PL.
I just found that bizzarre.

No, I'm not impressed with our scouting network because of our dealings over the past several transfer windows.

The only first-team players we've picked from relative obscurity over the past couple of years have been Coates and Assaidi, and they hardly even get a sniff in the first team. The rest have all been expensive outlays for players known and seen by all.

The value that Sturridge and Ince promise to offer at 18 million could be found elsewhere for about 2/3rds the price and half the wages. What's the point of a scouting network then if it is pathetic at finding value?

So we should have changed our style, played him week in week out and given him too much money before he had proved himself? A kid? Really?

I'm happy with our poor management in that case.

I think he would have been happy if he was given a chance. Same chance Raheem and Suso got.¨

Wait, change our style? What style? We went and bought Downing a few weeks after he left.

He'll score fifteen goals and we'll be top of the form league in the second half of the season. We'll come fifth and everyone will start thinking about a title challenge next season, but next season both Sturridge and LFC will be total shit.

Exactly. We didn't have to right style (according to Ince), that's why he left (according to Comolli). Not about money but style and minutes.
