btw, know hes not been on long, but torres looking a bit gash here. its all about sturridge since hes come on

watching chelsea friendly and he looks very talented.

torres looks shite.

we did so so bad replacing benayoun with joke.

Was Sturridge even offered ? I think that was just rumour. You can't regret something you never had a chance of in the first place

the consensus was that we declined him as we weren't interested but who knows. you'd have to think we could have taken him quite easily.

valid point. I wish we enquired about him then if he wasn't offered.

with foresight I was mourning the yossi joke swap. The same with Sturridge, proper talent. If anyone could develop into an English Messi (of course in a lesser capacity) it is him; in regards to position and style of play.

we would have done very well to get him for anything under ten mill -- which is what i think he would have gone for. shame as he'd go for well more now.

I thought Raheem was going to be the English Messi?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing...I thought Sturridge was on the jermaine pennant road to nowhere with too much too soon effectively stunting his growth forever... I think i was wrong.

Well, he may just be; It's a way of saying a great winger who cuts in mostly on their strong foot and scores a lot.

No. That would be Sterling.

Not bothered at all. Yet another overhyped English youngster. On astronomical wages, questionable attitude/bit of a cunt and would cost a fortune.

6 good months for Bolton doesnt indicate anything other than talented tbh. Id rather develop some of our youngsters instead.

Don't know if he was actually offered to us but I agree that he is a fantastic talent. I also get the feeling he's going to have a break out season under Villas Boas this year.

Given Sturridge ended up at Bolton on loan, it's pretty obvious that he was available as part of the deal. I imagine we'd have rightly seen it as an insult to start talking about their castoffs in a deal that saw them taking our top player. No one wanted him before he had a good spell at Bolton.

Doesn't he just?...

As for Sturridge, looked abysmal at the U21's this summer.

EVERYONE was abysmal at that

i did..... if i could be arsed looking i'd find it, but i can't.

God_23 said Yossi is better than Joe Cole and not many agreed with him. Then again Yossi was nearly his favourite player.

I had very few agree with me at the time. Yossi was extremely underrated by a lot of fans. I've always thought Cole was highly overrated. He can be very good on his day, but he has always been horribly inconsistent. If he was as good as people made him out to be, he would have been a regular starter at Chelsea and they wouldn't have let him go. Having said that, he surely had all the bad luck he can have for a while last year and I'm happy to have him in the squad.

Re: Sturridge, I've never seen the big deal with him. Having said that I haven't seen an awful lot of him, but he's always seemed a bit MEH to me.

CHELSEA want a whopping £3million if a club wants to take Daniel Sturridge on loan.

Sturridge, 21, was a revelation at Bolton last season after joining Owen Coyle’s side on loan in January.

He scored eight goals in 11 games to prove he has the talent to make it in the Premier League.

The former Manchester City youngster knows he will struggle to get past Didier Drogba and £50m Fernando Torres in the Chelsea attack.

But he impressed new boss Andre Villas-Boas on Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the Far East – and scored a cracking goal against Hong Kong champions Kitchee starting on the right.

Villas-Boas does not want Sturridge to go out on loan – at least until January – and the figures the club have put on his head show that.

Likewise the player is desperate to prove he can make it at Stamford Bridge.

However, Chelsea also know that his desire to stay put will be tested if he isn’t given his chance before the transfer window reopens in 2012.
