I am not sure why people are freaking out over the salaries in China and deeming 500-600K per week as crazy.
600K per week is crazy and 300K per week for Rooney with his current performance level is perfectly OK?

The difference is China need to offer these salaries first hand, Rooney is Captain of Utd and has served them for like 10 years.

Don't really know because what you earn and what you declare as your income are two completely different things. They do have tax-free or tax-reduced brackets and then I think it jumps to around 25%, no idea if there's a higher tax bracket but I don't think so, one of the reasons expats love coming to China (as long as they can avoid double taxation).
