Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But looking back at our terrible season, the lack of goals is telling. Ourselves and southampton are bottom of the top 7 goals scored count.
We failed miserably in replacing 65m pounds of world class goal scoring talent. We rightly go on about how bad our strikers are.
In contrast look at Chelsea. For most of this season, they have had one world class striker but he has missed a lot of matches - not as many as Studge, but still a few. He has scored 19 so far. Good but not outstanding.
His backups have hardly scored that many goals either and would probably struggle to get into top squads. Despite of this, they have won the league at a canter. Hazard has managed 13 league goals - respectable but not enough in itself to explain how chelsea have made up for their lack of striking depth. No other player has got double-figures for chelsea.
strange contrast.
