With uncertainty over the futures of Xabi, Mascher, Reina, Arbeloa, Babel etc, with no new additions to the playing squad and doubts over what we can actually afford this summer, given the option would you settle right now for taking last season's squad into the new campaign? Or do you still think on balance the squad will be improved this summer?

Right now, I'd stick.

Twist, purely on the grounds that we can't afford for Torres to get broken again with the current squad.

Twist.

We can't be in a position where we're so depdenant on the fitness of Torres and Gerrard. And I also don't think we can rely on certain other players to maintain last seasons form.

Twist again - but definately NOT like we did last summer!
Brilliant.

Very good.

Are you twisters really sure we're going to be stronger next year? I have a whiff of the summer of 2002 all over again.

Id twist. We werent quite good enough last year. We need a third world class matchwinner.

As long as we can be fairly confident that some of the major players are going nowhere (which we are) I think its worth the risk.

I don't disagree in the slightest mate but a) I'm not sure we're going to get one and b) we could be about to lose two worldclass midfielders and I wouldn't have too much confidence in our replacing them with something better.

ha ha that's ace!!

Even after last summer I trust Benitez to ensure we finish the summer an improved outfit.

I reckon Xabi and Mascherano will be told to stay, and we'll sign at least one more accomplished goal-scorer/provider

[Applause smiley]

Had they been handled all the way through as Rafa handled them from the CL tie against Real onwards, last year's squad would have won the league. Even so, you can't stand still and hope to be consistently successful. Twist.

Theres dic rumours popping up all over the place at the minute. And firm ones too. I think this could be a good window.

What have you heard?
Loads of scraps from different people mate. Nothing i am toooo sure about. Various stages of 'buying, negotiating, bought...' depending on who i speak too.
The basics seem to be that Sheik whassisface assured gordon brown that if the yanks werent offered an extension of credit he would be happy to swallow the public debt. Sounds a bit dubious to me, but that coupled with more than one person telling me the yanks are gone in weeks and that the dic guys are now funding us 'thats why rafa and everyone agreed to sign etc' is making me think maybe theres something to it.
Maybe someone in the know could fill in the blanks?

Those rumours don't sound very firm, Oncy. Gordon Brown and such.
I know mate. Im just sharing what i heard.
I guess it could be verified easily enough. Apparantly Brown was in dubai recently and assurances were made that they are still interested. RBS is a government owned bank now, so it could be true? I'll check when im at a pc if he did even visit dubai.
But to clarify i heard this rumour from ONE person, and totally independantly heard that yanks out dic in was imminent and again from others that we are being helped financially by the sheikh already.
I dont know if any of it is true though, im just posting what i heard.

Wowzers if true. I really want to believe this.

So, for the record;

I want us to sign Glenn Johnson, Ashley Young, Micah Richard £5million and Darren Bent for £12million.

Anyone see any patterns here?

I've heard some rumours about us being bought in the last 24 hours. Nothing concrete though.
