Steven Gerrard to stay at Liverpool FC
Jul 20 2010 EXCLUSIVE by Dominic King

STEVEN Gerrard today committed his future to Liverpool FC.

The Reds skipper ended months of speculation as he welcomed the signing of Joe Cole from Chelsea and admitted he cannot wait to play alongside him.

The news will come as a massive boost to Liverpool supporters - the second in 24 hours.

Gerrard said of Cole: "It is a great signing for us. I know Joe well through the England set-up and have seen first hand just how good a player he is.

"He has proved his ability over many years in the Premier League - sometimes against us - so it will be fantastic to play alongside him in a red shirt for Liverpool."

Gerrard, who has been at Anfield since he was eight years old and has never in recent seasons expressed any desire to leave despite the speculation this summer, added: "I've told him what a great club this is and I'm sure Joe's the sort of exciting talent our fans will love to see. I made it clear that I simply needed to concentrate on the World Cup and then have a decent holidaty with my family.

"I wanted the chance to meet Roy Hodgson privately and having done so, I'm very impressed with his plans for the future."

So clearly The Lying Rag will somehow twist this into him wanting to leave in tomorrows papers.

I truly wonder what on earth Roy told Gerrard that has him sounding like this ... Maybe Brendan could help out here.

Stevie, Torres and Cole and [Insert class player here] and we've got a fucking ace front 4-5*

*Assuming they all stay fit.

is the '-5' dirk?

I think Torres will stay now aswell.

I so made up in keeping Gerrard, that I'm acutally looking forward to the new season, for the first time since the horrible 09/10 ended..

Doom and Gloom mongers will be kept quiet for another while.

Delighted Stevie is staying. Surely Torres will follow suit?

He told him I'm Purslow's yes man and Purslow is out to destroy the club and lie to the fans. So it was a deciding factor on gerrard staying

I'm made up. Gerrard stays, Torres will definately follow suit.

Let's see what the media say now about our so called "sinking ship!"

- The Gooners are quiet bitter to say the least
- Not to mention some idiot reporter pointing out that we have the most injury prone attacking 3 in the Premiership.

Thank you Stevie. I'm not surprised, but I am really pleased.

I don't think it's 100% certain that Torres is staying yet, but this will undoubtedly help.

I'm the same mate. Said to all my mates yesterday now that Cole has signed I reckon Stevie and Torres will stay too. All summer I've been dreading the season starting but finally looking forward to it now.

This is great news. If we can keep our best players and add quality players things are looking up

If he can ditch the spoilt bastard 09/10 Stevie Me in favour of the arrogant bastard 08/09 version then I wouldn't pick anyone above him. Let's see what happens. Defo think it's great news for the club. Not been a bad couple of days.

Well, out of the three best 'big' players we have, Stevie was always the most likely to stay, but it's still nice to have confirmation.

I hope Torres follows suit, and that we get a top-notch CM in to replace Masher, a new LB who isn't a fat raspberry, and a quality attacker

Then even I'll be nearly happy

But this wasn't supposed to happen. Roy was supposed to stand aside and let The Cunts sell him. Just what do you think you're doing Gerrard? Eh? You're supposed to be helping with the asset stripping. Call yourself a Red. Cunt.

Its unfortunate that at every press conference Hodgson is forced to talk about Gewward, Towwes and Maschewano isn't it?

Gerrard was always least likely to leave. And isn't a cunt.
You're weird

You need to attend more of the Apocalypse Agenda Committee Meetings Brendan or they'll revoke your membership.

I would think that even Bwendan is more optimistic after the goings on during the last 48 hours. Unless he has been barred from the Apocolypse meetings for being *too* negative.

I am feeling happier, despite my misgivings about Cole as a player, simply because Gerrard and Carragher are happy

I hope Torres feels the same way

But we still haven't spent anything.

We need more players, which is why I want Masher's transfer to go through quickly so we have time to rebuild

And as I've always said, I want to wait until we see Woy's first team-sheet

I wouldn't disagree with that although I might wait a bit longer than seeing his first team sheet before passing judgement on Roy.

I've got misgiving with cole as a player too, I thought he was a show pony and then he had that amazing season for chelsea (I think he was their player of the season).
a massive problem of ours hasn't been taking the points off big teams but breaking down of teams that park the bus and I think he is exactly the type of player to unlock these stubborn defenses, that's why his lack of pace isn't 'such' a big deal as these teams will defend deep anyway.
