Sterling Contract Situation

That's stupid iPad predictive text for you.

What it should say he's been our best player this season which is ridiculous considering he's in the same team as Steven Gerrard.

I used my masters in advanced code-breaking and deciphered that shit.

On Sterling, yep glad it's all over, now let's hope we don't continue to be shit for another few years because he'll be off regardless of what we offer him.

Liverpool agree deal to keep Raheem Sterling at Anfield for five years

Liverpool have banished any lingering concerns over Raheem Sterling's future at the club after agreeing a deal to keep the winger at Anfield for the next five years.
Sterling turned 18 on 8 December without finalising the terms of his first professional contract, a situation that had alerted Chelsea and Manchester United among others to the possibility of signing the teenager for a compensation fee.
Liverpool, however, had repeatedly insisted that Sterling, who won his first senior England cap against Sweden last month, would eventually commit his future to Anfield and a compromise deal was agreed during talks between Ian Ayre and the player's representatives this week. Confirmation of Sterling's new five-year contract is expected to be announced by the club within the next 48 hours.
Sterling has been ever-present in the Premier League since making his full debut against Manchester City in August, although the manager, Brendan Rodgers, was reluctant to meet wage demands that had inflated following the winger's progress to the England senior team. The two parties have reached a compromise deal that will see the winger increasingly rewarded should he continue to progress at Anfield.

Now start doing something more like.

I wondered how long it would take people to turn. I've heard murmurings like this for the past week or two because he's hit an inevitable lull in his game. He's 18, has played practically every game so far this season and is still learning. He was initially meant to be going on loan but turned heads with his performances, so I think he's entitled to get away with a bit of naivety and a dip in form, especially when there's seasoned pros around him who seem to have forgotten what 'form' actually is.

Its what we've talked about for ages mate. The demand for instant success and a quick fix is staggering these days. Forget that you're 18, a new manager or a new player. If you dont perform at once - you're not good enough.

It was a joke Mark.

The 18-year-old has excelled for the Reds this season and has featured heavily in the first team since the manager's arrival in June.
And asked at a press conference whether Sterling was on the verge of signing a new deal, Rodgers replied: "Hopefully that will be concluded within the next 24 hours.
"I have said before that there was never a real issue, it was just a matter of timing and we hope that over the next couple of days that can be complete.
"We were always calm. I speak a lot with Raheem and his representatives and there has never been any issues from their side. It was just making sure that we take care in terms of the financial and football plan for the player.
"This was about a young player who has rocketed form playing in the youth teams and the reserves into becoming a full England international, so a lot has happened in his young life and it was just about making sure that there was that protectiion for him going forward.
"I have always been confident that this was going to be the best place for him. The kid is very focused and devoted to Liverpool. His representatives know this is the best place for him.
"Once it gets concluded, he can start to the next part of his development and hopefully he can keep progressing."

I really dont get why Raheem would agree to re-sign for us.
I mean its great if he does but if I was him i doubt I would.
I dont see the attraction at all.

God you're a miserable bastard these days.

Maybe we should just give up, sell the players, forfeit our league spot and turn Anfield into a shopping mall.

Im actually very cheerful. Its Christmas.
Im not down about the reasons I DONT see for him not arsed about signing. I couldnt give a fuck if he signs or not.
I am just being honest.
London lad, wanted by top clubs, almost out of contract, us going nowhere.
I wouldnt sign for us if i were him. Id go Arsenal or Chelsea or United.

Maybe hes just decided to progress his development at a mid table club for the next fews years. Im not so sure he would get regular football at City, Utd or Chelsea at the moment.

If he continues to progress though, and we remain static then things will change.

At the Arse/the Chavs/ManUre he would quite probably disappear into the ressies, or on to the bench at best, along with his prospects of making even more money in the future.

Or maybe he just enjoys playing here, likes working with the manager, feel that this is the best place to develop further and thinks we might go somewhere in the end.

It's obvious. He wouldn't play anywhere near as many games if he went to manure, arsenal and especially Chelsea. Here he knows he'll play at least 30 games a season. If I was him I would do the same as long as I'm getting a good wage as well.

He'd be about 3rd of 4th in the pecking order at those other clubs.

Maybe he is making sure that today is not the end of the world before he signs....?
