I agree with George.

It was just a natural assumption people made based on the fact that he was Scouse and the captain of the reserves, which is fairness isn't particularly outrageous. I never really rated him that highly anyways - "Stephen Darby" just sounds like a lower league player.

No idea if he's any good and no idea if this relates to him but often the desire to want local lads to come through clouds the reality that they might not be good enough.

Still, if he can remain fit for more than a fortnight at a time then he'd be more reliable back up than Degen.
