I am not saying what is our best team for the Stoke game, I am just saying what do people think will be our 11 for the game
I too believe in best XI's, but come on...
The game is more than three weeks away!

I'm basing it on the podcast Rodgers did with The Anfield Wrap. He himself said that for certain opponents he wanted some height in the team so that's why I included Henderson.

aspas MUSt start ahead of downing, surely.
sure, my love for him has blinded me beyond the point of redemption.
Now that'll be a nice introduction for him...
Nah, I'd have Downing in the team for that game. It's just too physical for Aspas imo.
Downing, might not be the most imposing player on the pitch but he's used to teams like Stoke.
Obviously starting with that team will put a lot of pressure on Coutinho but I think we'll manage to get a goal. If not we'll have Sterling, Aspas and co ready on the bench.
can't believe what I am reading Modo? Downing struggled to beat his indonesian non-entity oppo. More importantly teams like Stoke are used to him. Aspas is a live wire and will thrive on the physical side of the epl.
Believe me, I'd rather not have Downing in the line up, but he's useful defensively.
I'm worried about Aspas defensive work. Didn't see too much of it against PNE or Indonesia.
If you're playing on the right with Johnson behind, you have to be ready to defend as well.
As it stands, we can't afford to have both Coutinho and Aspas on the wings at the same time.
It would be a different story if Coutinho was played in the middle. I wouldn't mind this line up:
Same keeper and back line.

fair point about aspas' defensive skills, not seen enough to judge him yet, but his mentality of been a workaholic would suggest he could do a decent defensive shift which would be more than compensated by this attacking prowess. In any event, I would rather than Sterling, Aspas, Coutinho, sturridge, and henderson ahead of downing for an attacking slot. he offers ZERO.
Ideally, of course but practically? (I can't believe I'm writing this ) But with the current options we have, I'd feel safer having Downing on the pitch.

Hey, I voted for a marquee signing in that "right wing" thread so my conscience is clear.
If we buy Shakiri, he'll be playing on the right.
Well duh, we haven't actually changed much attacking wise and and I don't mind tbh.
We played really well after Coutinho and Sturridge joined but that right wing position still bugs me to be honest.
Ah, sorry then. For a minute there, I thought we came 7th last year with those players.
Whatever the team is I hope for once we batter someone on the opening day and everyone gets to continue the hope we will win the league.

I especially thought Suttridge and Coutinho were absolute gash till December. Not to mention Toure's howlers.
