Stadium expansion delayed

Also factored in a downfall in hospitality income, short term. Makes sense to wait a bit.

Given we wont have crowds in the stadium for at least 12 months this seems like the best time to start doing it

I think it’s down to cash flow. We’re missing out on huge amounts every other week and there is no idea when match day revenue will continue.

Yep, I don't expect any transfer outlay this year too, which is a major concern.

Next two transfer windows will be crucial for future of team post 2022, after which the present core will start declining.

Difficult to now see a signing like Werner happening.

The club has stated publicly that the bigger issue was timelines being squeezed too much, and I do believe this. It would also make sense not to put more pressure on cashflow than is necessary right now.

I do think the transfer window will be interesting. I can see a lot of smaller clubs having to sell their best players in order to stay afloat so there's a good chance that some bargain deals could be done, with those clubs that do have money being able to hoover up talent from those smaller clubs (so Palace selling Zaha, for example, would be highly likely). Sadly, this will favour the clubs with artificial revenue streams from their ownership groups.

I suspect we'll fall somewhere in the middle - we won't need to sell but we may not have the buying power we would have had otherwise. I'm on the fence as to whether a transfer like Werner could happen. I don't think the future payments would be an issue, it's whether the club can find the cash for the first instalment to make it happen this summer.

I think you could see a dip in prices for those not quite superstar players. As you say there will be cash flow pressures but at the same time clubs have depreciating assets. Could we see some normality back in the market in terms of fees and wages? Probably not but there could be a stagnation rather than the usual upwards trend.

Maddock's piece saying that our top targets were Werner and Aouar, but that it's highly unlikely we spend anything anymore.

There should be some very good bargains out there this summer, the likes of Grealish, Rice, Zaha, Richarlison, Dunk are all going to be flogged off.
