From some ESPN / Sporting Intelligence survey. We're 14th, up from 20th (Juve is 24th, down from 18th). I suppose we'll fall a bit after this season with some hefty veteran wages taken out. It was $115,697 per week (£74,823) in this survey.

I'm sure someone will point out that our wage bill is the 5th highest in England, with Spurs 6th.

NFL teams salaries would be a little disingenuous anyway. There is a salary cap, haven't checked recently, but something in the range of 140 million over a 4-5 month season. So if you divide that by the week you aren't going to get anyone over 2.69M a week.

But, NFL teams have to work wonders to get around that number by paying players upfront in bonuses, creating staggered salaries so a player only gets their big payday when other big contracts are off the board. And even then usually then they restructure and pay a upfront bonus to diminish the cap number. Someone like Tom Brady who knows he is the star; would happily take 15M up front and 5M in salary to help the team to capture more talent. Lastly, they also get playoff bonuses and incentive bonuses for statistical achievements also that don't count towards the cap. All in all though, still relatively cheap player costs for the money printing NFL.
