Southampton throw Puel on the fire

There's no way you have come up with that thread title. It's 100% stolen from FB, Twitter, or some sports media outlet.

After some preliminary research I think Dreamy came up with it himself.

I think it's a monkeys in a room with typewriters situation. We're in the Universe within the multiverse where Dreamy came up with that title. In billions of others it is merely Saints fire Puel or even in maybe billions more Puel fires Saints.

Sacked after finishing 8th and getting to the league cup final.

Is it just me or does that seem extremely harsh?

Everyone expected them to struggle post Koeman and while they dropped two spots I think many expected it to be much worse.

The league has gone mad.

If you'd been to their forums over the season, you wouldn't be surprised it came to this. I think more fans on Saintsweb are happier with this decision than letting him continue - they are thankful for the cup run but very displeased with the dull, unimaginative football he had them playing. The way they played, he wasn't helping to develop their attacking players and (more importantly) appreciate their value, so I wouldn't be surprised if management factored that into their consideration.

Will be very interesting to see who they get next, it will be hard for anyone to take them much higher while trying to play more attractive football.

Hopefully it will mean we can actually score against them next season.

The fans will want Tuchel, but I think they're more likely to land someone of a lesser profile. There are a few of those available for immediate hire right now, such as Paulo Sousa (ex-Swansea, ex-Basel, ex-Fiorentina) and Martin Schmidt (ex-Mainz). These guys won't be unfamiliar with the modus operandi of Southampton - keeping the plane flying while selling their best players and replacing them with cheaper parts (to be resold later, rinse - repeat).

I thought there was some talk of the squad being unhappy with him.

And the fans and board weren't thrilled with his negative approach

He went 5 or 6 home games in a row without scoring, or something to that effect. There are a lot of clubs these days who are doing the annual manager change and hoping that one day they'll just find someone who gives them a single good season. Bloody weird.

Ha,
Mate, it's Istanbul right now. We'll see who wins on penos.

Speaking of which you can still get good odds on us next season

They sold Mane, Wanyama, Pelle and Fonte. It was the manager's 1st season in England. The thin squad (expected to be supplement by the youth team players) had to contend with Europa League campaign too (cases of fixture congestions like 6 games in 22 days in Oct-Nov, 9 games in 30 days ard Dec). Record signing Sofiane Boufal made only 12 starts.

Yes, there was the Adkins-Pochettino case previously but why not give the man a one yr + option to extend deal instead of a 3 yr one if you weren't prepared to give him time?

No Southampton players should feel sorry for asking to leave the club if they think they can do better elsewhere.

Cunt's gettin sympathy-likes and y'all know it.

Or maybe just maybe I'm getting likes for a decent title, or could be because some people think you're a cunt.

Actually let's be honest, sympathy is the last thing I ever get on here so it must be you being a cunt.

Dreamy is pulling ahead now, 18-10 ... It seems this like battle with @Ryan is over.

This reminds me of Dreamy's epic take down of Ross wrt Suarez's goal scoring feats.

I think Dreamy has contracted reverse Alzheimers disease. Soon Ryan will be his plaything.
