New Southampton director Hans Hofstetter says the club's board has inherited a "difficult financial situation".

Hofstetter spoke as Southampton published their annual results for the year ending 30 June 2013 - their first back in the Premier League.

The club posted a net loss of £7.1m and will enter the summer window owing £27m in outstanding transfer fees.

A bill in excess of £30m is also pending for their new training ground.

So basically they need to offload players. Sneaky bid for rodriquez and lallana, both quality players.

The Saints owner has a net worth of 3 billion quid, don't think this news puts them in any desperate situation where they need to sell at all.

Chelsea will most likely buy Shaw. We'll then buy Bertrand from them for like £10 million.
Later on Modo will start annoying us with posts about how average and crap Bertrand is.

Is there actually any proof that Shaw wants to join Chelsea or are people just putting two plus two together.

No there isn't any proof, there is no proof any of the players want out in the summer.

Think if Pochettino goes then that will throw everything up in the air, Lallana for one seems a Le Tissier type, he could have bailed out long ago but stuck with them even in League 1.

The bad thing for Saints was the owner dying a few years back, as unrealistic as it may of been then he wanted to get them right up where they are now and further (CL places), now the daughter has inherited the situation no-one really knows whats going to happen although Cortese leaving is a clue.

Shaw is a Chelsea fan and they've been trying to buy him for a few years already apparantly.

We'll offer Cole a 1 year contract or something imho.

Didn't the owner die, and then his daughter took over? Thought there was something about her not being as interested in football and not wanting to bankroll the club...

Theres swathes of clubs linked to all their players, Lovren with us one of the latest.

Whether that means most of the players want to leave and are going to jump ship when the bids start coming in, no-one really knows, yet.

It would be suprising if they kept hold of all of their main assets this summer though, i reckon Pochettino will be off aswell going off quotes in the past that he has said about about him and Cortese.

Yeah thats basically it.

Her old man was the one bankrolling it all and he left it to Cortese to run it.

The rumours are that shes not as serious about it all as her old man but that thats not stopping her wanting to be more involved or basically having a tighter hold of the purse strings, thats a big reason why Cortese done the off, that wasn't the deal.

James Pearce from the Echo reckons the Cole link is bullshit.

We'll go for one of the many young left backs we've already been linked to IMO. I think they'd do almost as well as Shaw but for about half the price.

Hopefully it is. I'd like us to go for Rodriguez from Wolfsburg.

Shaw will most likely be sold in the summer and cover their outstanding debt so it's not really a problem.

It'll be more interesting to see what happens to the likes of Lallana and Jay Rodriguez.

Can we all please remember that a player being 'linked' only means that some fat slug like Martin Samuel had one column inch left to fill before he went for his next party bucket at Ken's Tuck-in Fried Chicken.

I have seen his scoring stats but not really watched Jay Rodriguez - is he actually a good player or is this a case of us wanting to sign any player who scores 15+ league goals?

He can play along the front 3, score goals and links up well

Wanted to sign him before he went there, he'd be pretty expensive now
