I know old Redknapp's a bit of a figure of fun and all, but he's built a tidy outfit there i think.
Missing Jenas, Dawson, Bale and Woodgate. Yet still looked solid and composed. The passing and movement in the middle of the park was similar to how we ended last season, with tidy triangles making space. Long term Crouch and Defoe should be the partnership and with good pace wide they have a really good chance of a top 6 finish for me.
What did yous think. I know most seem to think it was just us being shit, but even at our best we would have had a game on. keane missed a hat trick of chances and it could have been a lot worse. I think maybe we arent giving them the credit they deserve. Good, compact and with match winners. They'll finally be amongst the runners and riders this year.

We weren't much use, but a lot of that was their fault - Palacios put himself about well and King managed Torres effectively.

Redknapp inherited many good players and he's added some to that - the main thing though is that he's got them playing where Ramos seemingly couldn't.

We won't be the only top side to lose there this year.

As in Terrier's thread - we lack more Yossi type players.

I know I've always been about the attacking midfielders, but if we could add a couple of Modricy players to the squad then we'd be much better.

It was good on the eyes, that Spur team against us. We were made to look so out of depth there.

they are a good side no doubt but we made them look better than they are. when jamie and martin clashed into each oher you knew it was going to be a long afternoon. for the first half we were content to soak up pressure, when the defense is all over the place that really isn't a good idea.

Our weak and insipid performance aside, Spurs look a good side with strength in depth as well. Glen Hoddle actually made an interesting point. Spurs have got a stronger overall squad than we have. And for once, the loony bastard was right - they have. That was kind of worrying.

I said they'd finish 5th in my league predictions thread and I stand by that.

They handed our arses to us, and they've got a better squad than us. We'll obviously finish above them mind, as our starting 11 is better and more consistent over a season.

They'll do alright under Arry with a nice big budget.

They are good and they have improved, and as said they probably have more depth than us, but they'll still fall short. We were dire yesterday and made them look good.

I know it is a tough game to start the season, but we really need to find better form quite fast. Now we have to home games to get the good feeling of ball possesion. But the aggressive pressure that wins us the ball back high up in the pitch need to start long before the 75th minute which it did on Sunday. Spurs is good, but not that good!

Palacios was a big signing for them and he's made a notable difference, so in that area of the field they're much improved whilst they've always pretty good attacking wise.

They were set up well, harried and worked hard and unfortunately took advantage of our shitness. They're a good side who on their day can be very very good, but I didn't think they were impressive yesterday and they'll be fighting for the UEFA Cup spot as usual. Meh.

Yeah, Palacios was the key signing. Spurs have been one tough central midfielder short of a good side for a long time, and now they've found him. Bassong looked excellent too. The real test will be their away form, which was mediocre last season. I don't think they'll crack the top 5, but they have the ability to beat anyone at home.
