Apparently Alderweireld has a 23m release clause and has refused to sign a new contract. Hence he'll be off in the summer for mega wages somewhere.

It's a spurious source (twitter) and he might yet sign a contract, but I'm for celebrating anything that gets under the skin of Spurs fans.

He was being discussed on the radio yesterday, he's on 65,000 a week and Tottenham won't pay over 100,000 a week to anyone.

They thought he's the best in the league and the question was will he be having a look elsewhere? Especially when none of the City defenders would be on less than 6 figures despite some of them being shit.

I can picture him in Spain

Pardon me but I got reminded about this thread: http://www.sixcrazyminutes.com/index.php?threads/toby-alderweireld.30409/

That was some prediction back in 2013 (when he was still with Ajax before moving to Atlético Madrid and Southampton) 😛

Madrid have good centre backs. Barca maybe? It'd be great news if he went. I think he's brilliant. It was surprising that spurs got such clear run at him after his loan at Southampton.

It's 28M apparently.

Considering what City regularly pay for defenders, that's nothing.

It is hard to imagine Spurs agreeing to a clause like that.

Yup. Haven't City paid close to 130 million for Mangala, Stones, and Otamendi. 28 million for Alderweireld will be a bargain for them.

I'm pretty sure I remember this story doing the rounds like year too, didn't they offer him a new contract to sort it?

Didnt he cost them 11 mill £? His value and reputation have increased a lot since then, so its not unthinkable that they agreed to a clause like that a few seasons ago.
Its very unlike Levy mind.
