So, Udinese

I enjoyed that for the most part. If Suso was as cool in front of the goal as he is in other aspects of his play we could have strolled it. More evidence that we're learning to play the game Rodgers wants, and we generally looked solid, in control of the game and created a decent amount for an away game in Italy. Enrique continues his rehabilitation in a red shirt, and decent from Henderson and Suso too. Hard to be unhappy with that.

Cause Bilbao released a statement yesterday saying he wont leave in january but on a free after the season.
They are currently 3 points above the relegation zone, and Llorente said as much himself a couple of weeks ago.

I see. Thanks.

On the other hand, if we were to offer them a part exchange with Cole and Downing...

Yeah they'd suddenly forgo their "Basque only" policy to sign the two most overrated and overpaid footballers in the premiership.

Bad news from the BBC. Anzhi were so good they get 2 places in the next round.

Then we have to go back in time and make Downing's grandmother have an short but intense affair with a guy named Jose or Pedro on a vacation in Spain.

Got to be happy with that. BR has done a fine job navigating a difficult enough group.

Downing played quite well too, he put in a few super deliveries.

He also ducked out of a bunch of tackles and lost possession in some dangerous areas, including a horrible Maradona impersonation next to our own corner flag. There were a handful of nice deliveries in the final third, but for me they were more than balanced by the moments of vomit-inducing shite that we've come to expect from him.

It wasn't that bad, and he is playing out of position. People just seem to give him shit for the sake of it, I'm well aware he's deserved it many a time and he's been a waste of space and money, but he put in some good positive play today. He wasn't the only one making brainless decisions and mistakes, a few players did it at various points of the game, I don't think what he did do wrong was that disastrous, certainly not to the level of Henderson's late challenge, the few pointless freekicks given away by Skrtel in the latter stages, Suso ducking out of everything and needlessly giving possession away, nor Sterling playing a few brainless tricks and flicks when we really needed to keep hold of the ball. It happens, with him though it just seems to get magnified to give him the staple kicking.

Did anyone else notice how Carragher fucked up time and time and time again, constantly hoofed the ball and was caught out for speed regularly.
It is an absolute miracle with him in defense that we managed to keep a clean sheet 🙄

If it's become the norm for you to be shit I think you can expect people to be on your back a bit. You just have to do that little bit more to change people's opinions. Which he obviously can't because he's an almighty shithouse.

Didn't see the game due to work but great result away from home and a decent performance by all accounts.

Good to see us get through a pretty tough group.

I watched that Falcao recently he's really good and scores lots of goals we should buy him.

I agree. Where the feck is Coates? Even if he's off, that doesn't stop us playing him before then.

I didn't catch what the commentator said about dodging the champions league teams - does winning the group mean we dodge them? Can we only get runners up from the groups? If we dont, we're oooooooooobviously going to get chelsea.

I think we won't be able to blood any kids from here onwards as almost every game counts now and the standard of the opponents is a lot higher.

Good breakdown here of the seeding for the next round - basically the 12 group winners + 4 best CL group dropouts are in one pot, while the 12 group runners-up + 4 worst CL group dropouts are in the other:

Teams under the same FA or those which qualified from the same group cannot play each other in this round.

Teams in the first pot:
- LFC, Viktoria Pizen, Fenerbahce, Bordeaux, Steau Burcharesti, Dnipro, Genk, Rubin Kazan, Lyon, Lazio, Metalist, Hannover 96, Chelsea, Cluj, Olympiakos, Benfica

Teams in the second pot
- Anzhi, Atletico Madrid, Borussia, Newcastle, Stuttgart, Napoli, FC Basel, Inter, Sparta Prague, Spurs, Leverkusen, Levante, Zenit, BATE, Dinamo Kiev, Ajax.

I know it'll be tough game but I'd like us to play Leverkusen at this stage; it'll be a good homecoming for Hyypia (again).
