What do you think?
Truly fascinating stuff this season, fascinating and fucking exhausting. The strangest mix of enjoyment and disgust, soaring hope and dismal despair.

Can we still be optimistic? How optimistic could we have been if we had not have been totally fucking nobbled for ages? It's horrible as a Liverpool fan to think of what might have been if we hadn't have had such a crippling injury list since the get go and ludicrous game congestion for the last two months.

In all the big games so far this season apart from a gloomy surrender at Old Toilet we have shown we are more than a match of any of the big teams, usually with a heavily patched up side.

Klopp has been a genuine breath of fresh air and yet hasn't himself had any time nor luck with the squad with which to truly weave any magic. We've rolled over meekly against smaller teams too often and yet on occasion smashed teams above us and played with passion and brio reminiscent of two seasons ago, in terms of actual football played I think at times we've put on the best show in comparison to any other team. Jekyll and Hyde stuff...

We've played like fucking no marks at times and yet somehow i can't help but admire the team for their spirit... whatever we are we don't look like quitters.

It's been a mental season, really really mental.

What if Sturridge hadn't been a permacrock or Ings hadnt done his cruciates or or...

I hope so much we can get into the top 4 because in the face of epic bad luck and the inbuilt handicap of Mignolet we have deserved it on guts and effort alone.

How many behind Spurs? 6?

ps..

If we can get these cunts fit we will win the league next year... no doubt at all...

lets do them Manc bastards...

As has been said many times, teams above us have been dropping points, we just need to make a good run of results to get into the mix. But the same can be said of many other teams so yeah, weird season, Leiceister, West Ham and Stoke above us and all.

Earlier in the season I still thought we had an outside (very outside) chance of the title. I no longer think that, but I certainly do think we can still make top four, albeit we're outsiders now. It seems absurd to me to give up hope of that in a season in which results are so chaotic.

If we persist with Firmino as a striker we might have a chance of going on a little run. A string of five victories will put us comfortably back into the top four, that isn't going to happen though.

The only chance we have at top 4 is if Sturridge gets fit. Which means no chance really.

Benteke screws up our attack, and Firmino can't be relied on to score heavily.

It's been a really weird season. Results and performance-wise, it's been bloody fucking gloomy in the league (with a few exceptions, but mainly fucking gloomy). Not doing our job on both ends of the pitch is killing us:
-- 10 teams in the league have scored more goals than us in the league so far. And wait for this... one of them is Sunderland. SUNDERLAND!!! On this season's form, we're on track to finish with around 46 goals. That will pip the goal scoring record in 2011/2012 (47) as the lowest number of goals scored by the club in the Premier League.
-- 10 teams in the league have conceded fewer goals than us - we've the worst defensive record in the top half of the table.

We've had really bad luck with injuries - two ACLs to two of the summer buys is just fucking cruel. It's been a season of desperate waiting:
-- for Firmino and Benteke to adapt and deliver,
-- for Ibe to finally explode and take that big leap upwards,
-- for guys to get fit,
-- for Mignolet to stop costing us points,
-- for the perfect pair of centrebacks to materialize

Yet, it's also been a season of pleasant surprises (well so far):
-- Klopp, obviously
-- we're showing we can actually press and play high tempo against teams again
-- Lovren has shown improvement and might actually turn out okay
-- until their injuries, Ings and Origi were starting to show that they might be good players
-- more U21s getting playing time this season than ever before
-- we're still in 4 tournaments despite the things going against us

So, it's been fucking dire, but the outlook seems bright(er). If we lose to the Mancs, I'll probably come back and change that outlook.

It's been a fucking mental season. I came into it with very little hope having mostly lost faith in Rodgers and been underwhelmed by Benteke as our big signing of the summer. Humping Man City away and then getting pissed all over by Newcastle, Watford and West Ham is hard to take. I think we have an outside shot at the top 4. We're essentially 6 points off Spurs if you take goal difference into account, but we've been away to Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Stoke. We could really do with Sturridge back, but that seems like a pipe dream at the moment. I think the injury to Ings has really hurt us too. He was starting to look very decent before getting injured. I reckon he'd fit in well with Klopp's high pressing tactics too. So basically like my post the season has been all over the shop.

So true - it is really mental this season but I am loving watching us. It's not nice for the players and so but it is just fun being involved in all competitions.

I can't say I'm loving watching us in general, but I have really enjoyed some of the games. There have been enough absolutely abject performances to make us generally not enjoyable though (West Ham, Watford, Newcastle, Man United).

Sturridge and Ings would have pushed us towards a top 4 finish. Our keeper and defense are pushing us away from one.
