Talks of aiming for 2nd place..

Given our remaining fixtures I think its acheivable..

I would put Arsenal as favourites for 2nd.. but it will be a close run thing..

I think we can do it...

2nd and the FA CUP win.. Great season..

3rd would be ridiculous enough after this season. If we finished 2nd it would be astounding, no doubt

I'd be very happy with 4th. I think City and Arsenal will get 2nd and 3rd between them.

Arsenal 2nd possibilty.. we beat them though we are in with a decent shout

I can see city dropping out of the top 4 altogether... I think the manager has lost the dressing room somewhat..

Lose against Barca and it is curtains for them..

Something not right with them at the moment...

Momentum is key. Ourselves and Arsenal have that in spades..

We won't stay unbeaten till the end of the season and we are not the only team enjoying a great run of form.

Positivity is good but let's not get carried away.

Yeh, the next two games are massive, but a lot of us are operating under the assumption we've already beaten United, lets not pre-empt ourselves.

City will not drop out of the top 4.

It'd be handy if they did (though obviously not as good as Utd doing it), but it ain't gonna happen sadly.

Our away games are fairly tough imo.
Don't fancy getting much from Arsenal,Chelsea,Stoke and a Pulis infected West Brom.
It's going to be tough to get top 4 but we have the momentum.

Our goal difference is a bit of a pisser. No chance of making it up on any of the teams ahead of us. That could stop us getting 2nd or 3rd as much as anything.

Considering the respective run-in schedules and squad depth : 4th unless City totally collapse. Arsenal will come 2nd IMHO.

Would City be in financial shit if they did fall out?

It wouldn't help, but they've already got problems. I hadn't realised, but according to Marcotti under the FFP sanctions their net spend is capped at $50m (guessing 40m euros?) a year for the next two seasons. They're going to struggle to remain a top 4 side for much longer.

I'm hoping WBA are safely mid table and Chelsea already champions by the time we play them, which would help a bit.

Well yeah there's every possibility of that happening and Stoke will have nothing to play for too but on paper I don't fancy the fixtures.
United's fixtures are hellish compared to ours but they seem to be playing themselves into form at the right time.
We simply need to win Sunday rather than rely on United dropping points in the run in.

It would be ace though..

I wouldn't rule it out... I can see UTD getting a result against them..

2 bad results and they are in trouble.. Their form is horrendous

Like i said.. Momentum this time of the season is key...

I don't see much difference between 2nd and 4th at this stage, I just want us to see one of the teams ahead of us collapse. It looks most likely to be United and a win on Sunday would be a great catalyst for that. Buzzing for Sunday already!

Anything less than 2 points from the next two games is a disaster.

2 would be acceptable, not ideal, but means we're still in the race.

3 points would be pretty good, it'd mean we're worst case 3 points off fourth, with only one difficult game left(in theory).

4 points would be excellent, we'd likely be into the top four.

6 points and I think we'd be a banker for top four.

It could quite easily be us, if we play at the top of our game on Sunday we'll beat United, anything less though, and they'll do us, and if they do us, our next game is a trip to the Emirates, which we could easily lose. Two losses and that's our collapse, and that's why I don't want to entertain this second talk, the biggest two games of our season are approaching, and there's absolutely no guarantee that we'll win them.

In a nut shell.

I wouldn't count Saints out the running for fourth. I'm sure they have a ridiculously easy run in, and as nobody expected them to finish so high this season, no pressure. Yes, the United game is important, but I expect them to drop more points than us after our clash so it's not over between the two of us even if we lose on Sunday.

I hate 4th; it's Arsenal's trophy and I don't want it (well, if we can do better, that is...)

3rd would be great - proper pre-season without the CL playoff rubbish; 2nd would be fantastic, as it'd mean that some lazy journos' or opposing fans' lousy footnotes for our amazing run last season (i.e. "* did not have European football distractions") are moot.

1st doesn't sound too bad. Think I can take a bit of that too if offered.
