Who secretly celebrated when Lampard wrapped up the win?

I watched the game with 3 other Liverpool fans and while two just sat there not jumping around but happy with the goal, the other two jumped in celebration.

Strange day to say the least.

I wasn't happy, it's not the right word.

Apathetic is much closer to the mark.

It's acceptance that there was nothing to be gained from winning, and the fact that even if we'd wanted to, we couldn't.

Yeah, getting embarassed at home by a team who used to be a rival but are now in another league and on their way to another title is hilarious.

In what way did we get embarrassed ?

The fact they walked all over us at a canter?

They're the best team in the league, they've had a full week to prepare for the game, we've just played 120 mins on thursday, and we today we played without Torres, Johnson, and a proper left back, also we didn't really have nothing to play for, what did you expect ?

The fact that you can provide a logical explanation for why it happened doesn't make the utter ineptitude of or performance today any less embarassing, mate.

Pretty spot on. I've never seen us less bothered bar the players playing for their career.

Not me anyway.

I was fucking disgusted by the result, and watching Lampard celebrate on our turf again after scoring made me slightly ill. Fuck them, fuck their title, fuck our inadequacies. If United had won the title as a result of us beating Chelsea I wouldn't have give a fuck. They're a better team than us, and they'll get to 19 before us anyway, so we might as well get it out of the fucking way.

It actually felt terrible.

There was at first the sense of relief that we didnt help the Scum to 19; even though that may still happen.

But aside from our normal inept performance, we looked broken.

As much as we scorn Chelsea, there was still a rivalry between 2 good teams.

We looked like a wounded animal begging to be put out of our misery.

I am terribly afraid that we're not going to get out of this as easily as we hope.

Greedy shyster owners, incompetent manager, broken players, no new stadiums.

Perhaps the doom and gloom is exaggerated, but I don't see how we can have hope in our hearts.

terrible? I was delighted and still am, jesus Ryan that is nonesense. If we turned up and beat them we WOULD have handed them cunts another title so great

When Gerrard gifted drogba that 1st goal i laughed, and when lampard scored i knew it was over but despite that i still wanted us to score to atleast restore some pride.
Times like these suck 🙁

I hate Chelsea with a vengance. All the cunts including but not limited to Drogba, Ballack, Cole, Lampard, Terry and Malouda. I dont wish them anything. Disgusting bastards with no history acting like they are the crop of the earth? Idiots. Never liked them....

Havig said that, it was a little Bizarr to see the Lazio fans reaction when Inter went up 1-0 at their stadium yesterday. They were jumping and dancing in the stands as that hampered Romes chance of winning serie A....

I don't really comprehend these so called fans who had no problem with a nonsense club like Chelsea celebrating on our turf; did people not get the fact that we were reduced to the level of a Sunderland or a Wigan - just another piece of dross club to be trampled on the way to the title?

Since when did Liverpool give a toss about any other club? One of our great criticisms of mancs is they sing about us at other games - they're so caught up with us because we're the ones they envy. Small time. Now we're doing the same thing and yet somehow that doesn't make us small time?

We're miles behind either club at the moment and the mancs will be in the 20's before we're up there again so I'm not interested. How Liverpool performs is whats important to me and that means we smash every team that dares enter Anfield with dreams of a victory.

Not sure about that. I think under a new manager we can get close again and I doubt Utd are going to get stronger. Quiet the opposite.

its difficult to gauge what our 'true' level is. in the six years rafa has been here with the exception of the year he arrive and this season with cruised to CL places but last year we pushed manu all the will this them needing a record breaking clean sheet run to keep them out and the chelsea (barring a disaster) will win with the same points we secured last season to come second but this year with the only significant exits being alonso, arbeloa and sami we have imploded so its hard to tell what our 'true' level is. how much will it take to get us to a good level again? another alonso? a solid fullback?

As I put on my fb status, I was pissed off. We lost without them playing well, we had the better first half yet went in behind & couldnt improve any during the second half.

Our performance didnt deserve a 2-0 loss, theirs didnt deserve a 2-0 win.

Some idiot scallys in the bar we were in were made up, everyone else in there was annoyed at the least.

Exactly. We've had TWENTY years to do something about this, crying at the final furlong when they're galloping over the finish line makes no sense at all.

Whether it's next year, or in three years time, they're almost certain to get to 19 before we do. I've accepted it now TBH, it hurts every time I look at the league table anyway, them putting in numbers & the history books what we all know, that they've been the better team for the last two decades, doesnt make any difference to me any more.

I felt sick. I wanted us to win, and watching those bastards celebrate at Anfield whilst we looked horribly toothless was nauseating.

No-one was happy watching the likes of Drogba and Lampard celebrate like they did and it hurt to acknowledge that we were insignificant, simply an obstacle to overcome in the race for the title. But what can we do, reality is reality and that's what you have to deal with.

It's all very well carrying on about "Liverpool" and what it means to be a fan, but let's be real here - you're talking about what it meant to be a fan 20 years ago when we were successful. Attitudes are changed by success or lack of it. And ours have changed. That's just football and no set of fans are above it.

'Small time'? We've not won the title for 20 years.

Our total could be 50 titles and it wouldn't matter a jot if they're winning the title year after year, whilst we're still hoping, dreaming of the glory days returning. So personally, I'm past caring about our record, but I can understand those that do care and those that didn't want us to be the ones that handed the record to them.

Attitudes of 20 years ago, records of 20 years ago... it's all the same.

Anyone who verbally 'cheered' is a fool.

The ordeal was kind of like watching a dying elderly person that is so inept, you feel it would be better if they were finally at peace.

To be honest I didn't give a shit about utd winning the league, and if they do next weekend I still won't! I wanted u to win yesterday and do every game! We've been protecting our 18 titles for the best part of 2 decades! Maybe utd winning 19 might actually spur us on to do something in the future rather than boasting about our past all the time! You'd think the way some fans go on that if utd win number 19 that time will just stop and we won't ever have the chance to catch the bastards! Now i love this club and it's history, but the future is as important as the succeses and stories of the past!

Some good posts there from Jon and Ryan. No one should be happy at us getting beat or conceding a goal, and no Liverpool fan should be happy watching a club like that win the title. Whatever happens regarding the title this season, it's fairly nailed on that United will clinch their next title before we do, so what the fuck does it matter?

I've got no respect for either team, and their supporters comments yesterday morning prior to the match just served to compound that.

What hurt was watching us roll over and die and more or less admit defeat without even trying (bar one or two players). The fans have forked out enough this season to watch our shite, they deserved better on the last day (at home). The only consolation is that it reminded us of our massive failings, and we don't face another Summer that's glossed over by a post-Christmas upturn in form.

The season is done, the club is vulnerable and Rafa is gone.

Onwards and upwards.

Painful reading.

But we have to, if we're going to somehow rebuild.

Will Benitez be at the helm? Again, that is to be decided. Clearly some fans will be happy for him to go to Juventus or wherever, fearing that his project has gone stale, others – the majority – still believe he is the man to take Liverpool forward.

The majority???

fucking hell. I know one Liverpool fan outside of this forum who wants him to stay. ONE.

Majority my arse. Perhaps on RAWK & in SoS meetings, but not anywhere else.

That's true, but Ferguson will leave a MASSIVE hole in that club when he does go. Time will tell exactly how much of an effect that has on their progress, but you can bet they're thinking - and worrying - about it already.
