It's a shame, because when he burst on the scene, we were all thinking we could have a real gem on our hands.. Then Aidy Ward turned his head.

Can someone fill me in on the whole Spectrum of reasons why he left?

He'd sort of fallen down in the pecking order after Ibe made his breakthrough - there was a sense that he'd lost his way a little bit. Then Ojo moved ahead of him as a well in terms of profile and popularity. Meanwhile, as has been said, his agent started his usual antics.

Both had their price determined through arbitration process.

No, I think Sinclairs fee was negotiated between the clubs. If not this wouldnt have been settled before next summer..

Might influence the Zielinski deal aswell. That could be wrapped up soon.

They are still both compensation fees..

A figure couldn't be agreed with Ings, so it went to an arbitration independent panel to decide a fee.

Do we really want Zielinski, who is unable to get into the Poland team?

He's 21 years old though. Dont think it means much that he hasnt started a game in the Euros. Some of our fans will have made their mind up about his quality after those 45 mins against Ukraine.
I've got no idea about his potential or how good he is, but Buvac and Klopp has had decent success with scouting and signing Polish players to say the least.
Piszczek, Lewandowski and Blaszczykowski.

I'll trust Klopp on this one.

Very well done to LFC for negotiating this deal, that's a super fee for a u21 player.

Particularly in midfield where we have Henderson & Milner who can't get into the England team, Can who can't get into the German team and Lucas who can't get in to the Brazilian team.

Actually.... he's probably perfect for us [emoji12]

You forgot Welsh Jesus 🙂

It was a good deal by LFC. The compensation committee routinely reaches a fee by considering the status of the club he's leaving and going to, the length of time he's been at his club, his appearance record, his international record, if any, and the amount of confirmed interest that's previously been shown in him. I doubt we'd have got quite as much if those criteria had been used.

I have a feeling we'll be "pleasantly surprised" with a lot of the fees of our outgoing players - until we realize it's mostly the price inflation and the incoming players will be just as costly.

Good point. It'll take a while to see what the level is for this summer.

Hardly a fair analysis is it. I mean Ross Barkley was unable to get into the England team - a far inferior side to Poland - and I'd take him in a heartbeat.

[article]New signing Jerome Sinclair talks to watfordfc.com about being part of an exciting future at Vicarage Road...

THE AMBITION of the club was one of the main reasons Jerome Sinclair opted to become Watford’s first signing of the summer, ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League season.

Sinclair joined the Hornets on a five-year deal last week and speaking to watfordfc.com, he admitted that it was very much an easy decision to make.

“I’m massively excited,” Sinclair said.

“It’s been a big step to move away from Liverpool, but it [Watford] is a great club, with a great history and vision for the future, and I’m just happy to be a part of that.

“I was offered the opportunity to come in here and play games and that was a no-brainer for me. Hopefully I can score goals and help the team move forward.

“We want to be pushing into the top half of the table and getting as close to Europe as we can, because it is a big club with a big ambition.”

Sinclair is coming towards the end of his first week training with his new teammates under new Head Coach Walter Mazzarri, and the forward has enjoyed settling into his new surroundings.

“The first few days of pre-season you expect to be tough, as they test the players to see what kind of level they’ve come back in," he said.

“It’s important for me to be here as early as possible. I’ve found it really positive so far and I’m picking up new things. It’s obviously a new style that the manager has brought in and it’s going well so far.

“He’s a huge character, with a huge name. He’s bringing his own people and style to the club. It’s been a lot of shape and tactical work so far, but it’s going to help the lads get results in the Premier League.”

With the first pre-season fixture for the Hornets coming on Sunday (July 10) against Woking, the Birmingham-born striker is looking forward to that game and the next couple of weeks, as preparations continue for the new campaign.

“I can’t wait, for me it’s important to get as many games under my belt as I can before the season starts, so I can’t wait for Sunday and I hope it goes well," he said.

“All the boys are excited to be back for another season, the atmosphere is great and hopefully we all get through this pre-season and we can look forward to the new season.”[/article]

Is he actually any good?

I don't understand how we've managed to get 4M for a player that's never been anywhere near the first team.

Well, he scored plenty of goals at youth team level and did in fact play a few times (mostly off the bench, I think) for the first team, so yes, he has ability. The essential problem with Sinclair seems to be that he doesn't have as much ability as he himself reckons.
