Shelvey

What brought this on? You are just sitting there and all of a sudden, you magnificent bald bastard, I like the cut of your jib?

Also I'd like to say that I added Brendan Rodgers to Shelvey's fan club when he first got appointed because I just knew Shelvey would be his type of player. After watching Being Liverpool I've definitely been reassured of this fact so I'm very happy I didn't mislead anybody.

I agree with Marks post. He's got everything in his locker to be a top top player. Need to cut a few things out of his game but that will come.

Massive statement.

Out of the current crop of young players, sterling, suso, wisdom, it will be interesting to see hits 100 games first.

After he came on last night I thought he was doing well, then wondered if that was just my LFC bias talking. It wasn't though, because the commentators referred to it too.

Just as an aside, how stupid are football's disciplinary rules if a player can play for the full England side during a ban from the U-21s?

He just looked so comfortable last night when he came on and constantly picked up the ball and carried it into a threatening position before laying it off to an attacker, he's just so positive and a breath of fresh air. We also scored 3 goals after he came on.

I'm completely unsurprised

If that doesn't get him ahead of cleverly, what's he fucking point?

Erm, I love him, but he's not that good. Reminds people of Zidane?!

He's still boss, of course, and might I remind everyone that I was defo the first one to see it?

*smug look*

He looked very comfortable out there. It was San Marino though, but I'm very pleased for him.
Hope he's involved against Poland aswell.

Pfft

*smuggest look*

If I ever see any unnecessary over the top UNTRUE criticism of him I'll find this and take the like back. 🙂

Sunny already took a shitload of likes off me and never gave them back. Do your worst. I do, however, rate Shelvey (not quite the next Zidane, like) so you don't need to remove the like just yet.

Ya needs to cut out the bad tackling but that should be easy to do Gerrard was the same when he came into the team.
I wouldn't say he has everything in his locker my worry is he doesn't have much pace and he isn't very mobile.

He's still very raw.
Capable of some good stuff but can also give the ball away 5 times in a matter of minutes.
It all depends on how he develops.
He can become one of the top midfielders in the league or end up a Kevin Nolan. Just a decent midfielder who can put in a crunching tackle and chip in with a few goals a season.
Hope he becomes boss but he's nowhere near the player some of the lads here are claiming he is.

There are plenty of midfielders who dont rely on pace and mobility though, I'm not worried about that

I heard a bloke the other day recall when Shelvey was a kid at Charlton. He said he'd always be one of the first to arrive and the last to leave, always working to improve. He can sometimes come across as a bit of a mischievous type but he's obviously really a very good pro who has the right attitude to keep improving.

Hs also comes across as thick as a whale omelette (I never understood that phrase... Whales don't lay eggs)

But he's a boss
