Seal watching.

Anyone done it?

As anyone reading my posts could probably guess, I'm not much of a nature person.

So when the missus says she wants to drive to a spot about 20 miles away by the NOrfolk coast where there is apparently a great place to watch seals, where we'd have to park about a mile from the beach and walk through the mud to get there, I thought she was kidding.

She was not.

So we go down there and I'm thinking, 'this is ridiculous.'

We're wet, the trail is muddy and we're going to a cold windy beach to see some seal tracks or maybe some seal crap (not that I'd recognise it if I even saw it).

So we're on the beach, it's cold and windy and it starts to drizzle a little.

I was not amused.

Then I saw some young seals in the water swimming about 20 feet away.

I'm shocked, because the only time I've seen seals have been in the zoo or on TV doing stupid tricks..but now I was walking on the beach parallel to 3 young seals popping their head upand then submerging and then surfacing whilst watching me.

We walk a little further and then we see a whole bunch of seals on the beach beyond the rocks.

They were sunning themseves (well, there wasnt much sun but never mind).

And I just had the biggest smile on my face, I still don't know why even now.

It was just so thrilling to actually share a beach with these animals.

My wife of course sneaks up on a baby seal because she wanted to get some pictures.

There were a few people there taking photos with the big fuckoff cameras so my wife insisted on doing the same with her crappy digicam. She didnt get very close though, since she was afraid she'd scare them.

Also because I was iolently texting her to not go so close.

She was even more thrilled, especially since there were one or two baby seals with their parents.

I actually want to go again, nd I have no idea why.

It actually escaped my mind to post about it until I saw Asbo's thrad about the stag.
