Dann on Dalglish's radar
Birmingham defender a target for Liverpool manager

Dann: Dalglish target

Skysports.com understands Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has identified Birmingham defender Scott Dann as one of his top summer transfer targets.

Dalglish is keen to reshape the Reds squad for next season and he sees Dann as a key addition to his long-term plans.

Dann has established himself as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League during his time at Birmingham.

A number of clubs, including Manchester United, are believed to be monitoring his situation at St Andrews but Dalglish is keen to win the race for the Liverpool-born stopper.

However, any move could prove difficult with newly installed director of football Damien Comolli being involved in all transfer dealings at Anfield.

It is believed Comolli is looking to pursue other targets ahead of Dann even though Dalglish sees the former Coventry man as the type of young, hungry and Premier League proven player he wants to bring into his side for next season.

-----------------------

I must admit that I haven't seen enough of him to have an opinion.

Here are some facts:

Full name: Scott Dann
Date of birth: 14 February 1987 (age 24)
Place of birth: Liverpool, England
Height: 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m)[2]
Position: Defender

I think we should look at some guy called Gary Cahill instead.
Strangely enough I agree. This Cahill person might be the right fit for us.

He is a former Liverpool F.C. season ticket holder.

Fuck Cahill and his £18 Million price tag.

Is this Skysports attempt to stir up some shit between Dalglish and Comolli.

I like him, and mentioned his name a couple of months ago.

Think he could develop into a very good player. Being a scouser also helps.

He's very good is Scott Dann.

For the record, a 21 year old Scott Dann was playing for a struggling Coventry team in The Championship 3 years ago and was deemed by many Coventry fans as culpable for many of their defensive frailties and was considered "not good enough" by a large proportion of them.

He has improved year-on-year and is now a decent Premier League defender although not good enough IMO for a team with top 4 aspirations.

Danny Wilson will become a better CB than Dann within 18 months Oncy.

If this happens I'll know about it quite far in advance.

Utd are in interested though & have been for a couple of seasons, whilst he'd be unwilling to go there them being so keen could price us out.

No he isn't.

Roger Johnson's 5 times the player, and even he's not brilliant.

Yup. Johnson reminds me a lot of Sami.

Kenny Dalglish wants to bring boyhood Kopite and Birmingham centre-half Scott Dann back to Liverpool.

Dalglish feels Dann could strengthen Liverpool's defence, which looked shaky last season, and it is understood the Scouser would love to jump at the chance to join the Reds.

Liverpool feel Birmingham will be prepared to sell following their relegation from the Premier League and value Dann at around £10million.

The Reds feel Dann, who is recovering from a torn hamstring, represents better value than Bolton's Gary Cahill, who has an £18million boy-out clause in his contract.

At 24, Dann also fits in with owners Fenway Sports Group' new policy of buying young players with a resale value.

Dont want any player with a boy-out clause. Sounds gay.

If we buy anyone cos they "represent better value" than someone else, I'm blowing up the Internet.

Case in point, that article above. Scott Dann "represents better value than Gary Cahill". All that means is we can't afford the good one.

Shay Given would "represent better value" than that De Gea cunt, but do you see Ferguson thinking like that?

Do you fuck.

Fuck off better value.

Maybe better value means they are both equal in footballing ability but one is cheaper?

Exactly what im thinking. But I guess Ryan disagrees and so do I in regards to Cahill.

The simple point is it's worth pursuing our first choice targets, as opposed to settling for second or third best. If we cannot get them then the money should be spent in other areas.

Personally I'd rather we save the cash and start Kelly there. We already know he's good enough. We definitely need a LB though.
I'd say so, I would actually prefer Dann from the 2.
This smells like a Vidic - Agger situation.

Well, the represent better value isnt bs if the stories about Bolton wanting 18-20 mill and Cahill 120k in wages. The reason for that is Citys interest. Would Fergie have gone for him then? No. Read somewhere that Kenny wasnt completly sold on Cahills ability either, so there is a footballing aspect in all this aswell. Tbh I think Agger will be sold and 1 more centre back brought in. Maybe Jones.

Arsenal should sign Dann because he is hugely similar to all the CB's Wenger signs - Vermaelen, Koscielny, Squillaci etc, in that he's better going forward than defending, he's easily bullied (it would be more apparent if Johnson wasn't beside him) and he's very injury prone.

£10m down the tubes if ye ask me.

I havent really seen much of either Cahill or Dann. But do we really have to sign either of them? Can't we sign somewhere more unknown (hence cost less) but can turn out to be really good like Sami? That's what Comolli is here for right?
