WTF !!!

The olympics is getting more and more professional, tennis, golf, rugby, cricket will be next.

I know most top athletes are pros now but the whole point of the olympics is the ameteur gane isn't it not fucking Tiger Woods and Roger Federer

>🙁

The Olympics should remain the preserve of crappy little events nobody really gives a fuck about.

Rugby, Football, Tennis and Golf should stop trying to muscle in. They just want another shiny medal to add to their collection but it will never mean as much as it does to proper Olympians, simply because there are more prestigious events inside their own sport

I was angry for quite sometime at our players who attended the Olympics instead of our club games.

Genuine question, but how many amateur sports are still in the Olympics.

Boxing and?

i don't know, guessing

rowing (some), shooting, badmington, table tennis, some gymnasts ???

Do people earn enough in those types of sports to make a living?

actually fuck knows, but golf, tennis, footy and rugby do not feel "olympic-ish" do they Gerry

I'm not sure I agree about the whole "professional athletes" argument.
Footballers already have a hectic schedule, I think it's a step in the right direction to let the clubs decide if players are allowed to participate in the Olympics. I also believe they should lower the age to U21s not U23s like it is now.
What I do enjoy about professionals participating in the olympics is that it often gathers the best players in the world. In the winter olympics we get to see the best hockey players in the world playing together. How often do we see players like Malkin, Ovechkin, Fedorov, Kovalchuk and Semin play the likes of Crosby, Iginla, Heatley and Nash. Don't forget Sweden the reigning champions with Lidström, Forsberg, Zetterberg and Bäckström.

Tennis players don't often get the chance to represent their countries well except in the Davis cup which has lost some of it's prestige because it's every year.
They should change the Olympics format to the Davis cup format that is a team format. Four singles and one double.

I hate golf well at least I hate watching it. I think it's on as a demonstration sport it'll probably be droppped later on.
I'm really excited about Rugby though, to bad it's not gonna be an event in the London Olympics.

Theres definitely professional table tennis and badminton players anyway

The Olympics for me just means athletics. I dont give a flying fuck about anything else & proper sports shouldnt be in it.

As for Winter Olympics, fuck me it's pointless dross.
