Shout out to these kids, who had a quiet but understated game yesterday.

Playing CM in a European game requires a lot of character and tactical understanding, and I thought both did quite well.

A criticism?

Rossiter gave the ball away a little too much for my liking, but he'll learn.

Chirivella appeared to be a bit timid at times - he's a holding playmaker, so he needs to be more expressive.

But overall, well done. Both of them will be good pros one day.

Yep. Agree with your comments 100%. Chirivella looked a little timid, scared of expressing himself, but no surprise considering how big a match this was for him. Rossiter had a good game though I thought he could have tried a few more incisive passes to our front men. Sakho seemed to be the one playing, and making, most of the long ball diagonals that spread the play !

Cheers for that. Should add a warning that it contains commentary by Owen.... 😉

I thought they were excellent in a match that was easily their most important games of their. Never hid, wanted the ball, lot of talking, showed positivity in almost every thing they did.

They scored because Rossiter went off (not blaming him). Baragan totally lost his man in the build up.

I like how Chirivella sounds. I hope he makes it with us or at least Spurs make a derisory bid

So bye, bye, Pedro Chirivella,
Drove my Chiri to the Levy but Daniel was dry,

I'm gonna quit there now while i'm already behind.

The concern with both of them is they are slow, lacking in pace and once the opponent is on their wrong side they can't get back. Same problem with Lucas of course.

That is so bad that i am going to like it,

What kind of player is Rossiter? Who would you compare him to if you had to?

It's clear that his development is being prioritized by the club but it's not immediately obvious why based on his appearances in the first team. He's not quite able to compete physically, doesn't have any pace or noticeable skill... so I'm guessing the sorts of things he brings to the table are game intelligence and passing?

He's scouse is probably the main reason

I feel like his perceptions are good but he needs to up the pace in his head

Already a legend

Jesus. He isn't coming back from that. But at least it was a short and sweet career for him.

Best thing about Rossiter is how he is always trying to nick the ball from whoever has it until they pass it on. He is relentless.
